STOCKBRIDGE -- Evelyn G. Vincent, 85, of 39 Church St. died yesterday at home.
Born in Stockbridge on April 11, 1922, daughter of Albert and Alice Malumphy Greene, she was a 1940 graduate of the former Williams High School and a 1942 graduate of the former Berkshire Business College in Pittsfield.
Mrs. Vincent was employed by Country Curtains in South Lee from 1962 until retiring as a supervisor in 1992. In her younger years, she worked at General Electric Co. and was a correspondent for The Berkshire Eagle.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and a member of the Stockbridge Golf Club and of several bowling leagues at Cove Bowling Lanes in Great Barrington. She was also a fan of the Boston Red Sox.
Her husband, Robert K. Vincent, whom she married June 15, 1946, died May 20, 1994.
She leaves three daughters, Patricia A. Vincent of Richmond, Barbara E. Rice of Pittsfield and Jonni M. Hamlon of Hesperia, Calif.; and two grandsons.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Evelyn G. Vincent, who died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Stockbridge by the Rev. Daniel Papineau, pastor, assisted by Mrs. Vincent's nephew, Deacon George Morrell. Burial, in St. Joseph's Cemetery, will be private. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to St. Joseph's Church or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. Mrs. Vincent also leaves her grandchildren, Army Sgt. Adam K. Rice and his wife, Ashley, and Army Spc. Brian S. Rice; and her son-in-law, John R. Hamlon. She was predeceased by her brother, William Greene, and by her sister, Nancy Leo.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
