Richard M. Milner Sr.

Of Marlborough, died peacefully in his sleep on March 29, 2008 due to complications from cancer. He was 63. A beloved husband, father and grandfather. Dick grew up in North Weymouth and graduated from Archbishop Williams High School. He married Kathy (Kezer) in 1964 and raised two sons, Rick M. Milner Jr. and his wife Sue of Newton, NH and Paul H. Milner and his wife Rhonda of Weymouth. His career as an engineer brought him all over the world to work on projects in places such as Germany and Puerto Rico. He also was involved in the rebuilding of the Franklin Park Zoo. Dick had two passions that gave him immense joy, baseball and coaching. His love of baseball led him to become and umpire. He was a past president of the South Shore Umpires Association and worked in the Babe Ruth World Series. Dick coached basketball for several high schools for nearly 30 years, including Boston College High, Archbishop Williams and Cohasset Public Schools. This past year, he coached with the Cohasset girls varsity team that won the state championship. He also volunteered as a coach for Weymouth Babe Ruth baseball and, despite limited skating skills, St. Josephs Youth Hockey of Hyde Park. Along with his wife and sons, Dick is survived by his brothers, Howard of TX, Steve of CT. and Robert of NH. Loving grandfather of Christian, Evan and Caitlin.
