Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

To the loving family and friends of Nancy.
I had the wonderful pleasure of working with Nancy in 2006 and I wanted to let you know that she was respected and cared for by her co-workers. The last time I saw her we had a great lunch at Bamboo in Burlington, and she was smiling and happy and very hopeful for her future. I am so very sorry for your loss. Having just lost my mother a few weeks ago, I know how distressing this time can be, but please know that she has left you for a better place, and have faith that you will all see her again. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult and trying time.

I have been trying to think of when I first officially met Nancy and I think it was about 18 years ago at Wang. She sat on a path from my office to my manager’s so I often passed her cube but did not know who she was. In those days I used to organize “flings” (seems like a lifetime ago)--she came to one and from that day on, we became best of friends.

I will always remember her as one of the most ethical people I have every known. On a personal level, her kindness and generosity—were endless. No matter what life threw at her (and it was a lot) she handled with grace and dignity and she never forgot to laugh. Oh and how we laughed—all the time and many times until we cried—we should do more of that as adults..

There were so many golf outings and 19th hole dive stops after. Dozens of lunches at Ric’s Cafe and after work watering hole sessions, a trip to Foxwood, barbecues at Marky Marc’s, a very memorable evening in Ft. Lauderdale beach and so on and so on. All good times with Nancy that I was fortunate to have..

I was so happy for her when she met Eric and bought her house—she finally was going to get everything she deserved.

Today and tomorrow, I will cry with Nancy for the last time, not out of laughter, but because of my memories of it. God has claimed a good one this week and when I see a particularly bright star twinkling in the night sky, I will look at it, smile and think of Nancy—that’s how she would want it.

I love you always and will cherish the piece of my heart that holds your memory.
To all friends and family,
Today we can be very grateful for the amazing person we had in our lives for a time.I will never forget the one of a kind woman that was Nancy;her infectious smile and twinkling blue eyes that would warm hearts and bring a sense of peace. My deepest sympathy to all who loved Nancy.

Nancy, I will miss your smiling face at Ally and Zack's birthday parties and how you always thought they were pretty funny, even though they would get in trouble for what they did. They brought you alot of joy. My prayers to the family for trying to get through this. Marie, as a mother myself my heart goes out to you. And to Susan, Albert, Chris and Peter, she was the best sister and a slight prangster too, and my heart goes out to all of you also.

Nancy,
always remember our special poem.
God begins life
God ends life
we must accept the happiness
of birth as well as the sorrow of death. The day God takes you may be the happiest day of your life

We have a friendship that will continue even through death.
