Thomas O'Leary Obituary

Age 89, died March 29, 2008 at the Veterans Administration Center at Togus, ME after a long illness. He was born in Boston, MA on Sept. 1, 1918 the son of Timothy O'Leary and Jennie (O'Malley) O'Leary. Mr. O'Leary was a graduate of Cathedral High School of South Boston and Holy Cross College. He received his Masters Degree in social work from Boston College. Mr. O'Leary served honorably in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Silver Star. Prior to his retirement, Mr. O'Leary was employed as the executive director of the United Way of Merrimac Valley for 35 years. He was predeceased by his parents, and a daughter, Beth Morrissey. Surviving is his wife, Mary G. (Guiney) O'Leary of Nashua, NH; three daughters: Marilyn Earle, Mary E. O'Leary and Diane Barrett; one son, Tom O'Leary; and nine grandchildren. There will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, April 3rd at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Avenue, Augusta, ME. Burial, with military honors, will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The Veterans Admin. at Togus, ME. or to the charity of your choice.
