Please accept my deepest condolences.
I was active in the student government while I was at Soka University of American, and was able to meet and hear Dr.Montgomery talk to us students a number of times. Like all the other Board of Trustees, it was so clear to me how much he cared about Soka University. His dedication for the students will always remain in my heart.
Sincerely,
Yoko Kono

Dear Mrs. Montgomery and family:

I learned of Dr. Montgomery's passing a few days ago. I was shocked. It is not only sadness that overtakes the heart, but also a sense of awe at the realization of having met an individual of such expansive humanity.

As a member of the first graduating class of Soka University of America I had several chances to meet Dr. Montgomery. He always believed in the students and his sincere contributions to the development of the young institution were instrumental not only to Soka, but also to our education.

I remember the last time I met Dr. Montgomery. He welcomed two friends and I at his residence in Newton, MA. We had a lively discussion about education, music and politics. He was deeply concerned about the future of the country and the world. Every encounter with Dr. Montgomery was educational. He was the embodiment of the ideal of global citizenship.

We will miss his him greatly.

Sincerely, Gonzalo Obelleiro, Chairperson
