Ruth Garland Baker Dignan

Ruth Dignan Obituary

94, of 1825 Kenmore Dr., Statesville, N.C., died Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. Born in Leominster, Mass. on April 7, 1913, she was a daughter of the late William Thomas Garland and Alice Lear Garland. She was a retired hosiery mill supervisor and a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. In addition to her two husbands, Mr. Baker and Mr. Dignan, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, William Baker. Also preceding her in death were four sisters, Dorothy Farrar, Marion Eaton, Louise Garland and Betty Eaton. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Douglas Baker of New Hampshire and Richard Baker of Massachusetts, along with three step sons, Charles Dignan of New Hampshire, Lawrence Dignan of Massachusetts and Ernest Dignan of Florida. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services celebrating Ruth's life will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Gervase C. Hitch officiating. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service at the Church. Burial will follow later in New Ipswich, New Hampshire.
