I miss you. It been getting tougher as I get older. In school i've been learning on how to help patients cope with loss and I don't know if thats what has been getting to me these past couple of weeks or its the fact that I am finally grieving you. I always wonder how it would be if you were here. Kevin and Erin are two of the most amazing people I know in this world and im so lucky I get to have them forever by my side. Dads really great too, he is the best dad we could have asked for so thank you for choosing him. We love you and miss you so much.

I had the distinct pleasure to know Lauri our senior year at Westfield State College. Anytime I ran across Lauri on campus she would give a big hello and flash that wonderful smile. God bless you Lauri.

Ms. B,
I have been debating whether or not to write this for many months now. I hope that, somehow, you can see what I am about to say..
You are one of the most amazing people I will EVER know. As a former student of yours, I am lucky enough to have many memories of our time together.
One memory that still stands out loud in clear in my mind is right before the MCAS test. This was the first time we had ever took it, and we were scared out of our wits. You, being the incredible person you are, took this oppertunity to have some fun. You made every single person in our third grade class stand atop our chairs. Then, you stuck your hands in the air like a bear might, "ROARR!!" We were shocked. After all, no yelling in school! You instructed each of us to do the same thing, screaming all of our fears out. When it was time for the test, we were as loose as can be, laughing and smiling.
Another day, there was a huge thunderstorm. Some kids were crying, but even those who weren't were terrified. You swiftly ended our lesson, saying, "There are more important things..." You turned off the lights, leaving the classroom pitch black. This scared us even more. What was Ms. B going to do next? You instructed us to sit down in a circle on the carpet. You pulled out a flashlight...and we told ghost stories!
Anyone reading this should now be able to tell how truly, truly extraordinary Ms. Bought-A-Lot-Of-Tea (This is how she helped us learn to pronounce her name...) was and that she will live in our hearts and minds forever.
To Kevin, Michaela, and Erin, I want you to know the way your mom talking about you to us. One day she came into school upset. We all asked her whats wrong, and she told us, "Erin woke up today and she wasn't in a good mood. I didn't know what to do to make it better." Just the fact that you were unhappy distracted her for the whole day. Your mom came in everyday with a story about you guys, and every single time you could just feel the energy and love she felt towards you.
To Josh,
Every time you would show up in our class, whether it was to drop off a lunch or just to say hi, it made our day. Whenever Ms. B knew that you were going to be coming, she would tell us, over and over again, "Josh is coming in today during science." And then, during science, she would keep looking over at the door, as if saying "When's he coming??" I know that you know she loves you, but I want you to know that she carried that love into our classroom.
And, finally, to Ms. B,
We love you. We always will love you. And I promise, we will never forget you.
Love always and forever,
Your Students, 3rd grade of '06

Hi Barbara and the rest of the Bortolotti family.
I want to let you all know that I presented a scholarship to an eighth grade graduate from St Agatha's this past Friday night.
It was an honor to do so.
On behalf of all of our 1978 St Agatha's classmates, we gave a one time scholarship for $1300.00 to a wonderful girl and presented it in Lauri's name!
God Bless.
Love,
David Clifford
P.S. If possible please send me an email and I can forward you the photo.

I loved Ms.B more than anyone could ever imagine. I am so sorry to Josh, Kevin, Michaela, and Erin. They remind me so much of Ms.B and they are just as kind and caring. She was a fabulous teacher and the world will not be quite as good of a place without her.

I worked with Lauri at Blue Cross Blue Shield over 20 years ago. She influenced me with her vibrant, cheerful and considerate personality. I loved working with her and will never forget her! She was such a good sport at our department softball games and always brought Dale along. She loved to play tricks on us (supervisors) at BCBS, and was a very cunning practical joker as well. I recall she hid my dancing raisin desktop toys ("I heard it thru the grapevine") in the mens room and I had to pay an employee to go in their and get them. I always enjoyed working with her and often wondered where she went. I was so saddened to hear of her passing, but am very fortunate to have come into contact with her, as she was a pleasure to know and love.

Lauri was always vibrant with a sparkling smile. She was a loving, caring mother to her gorgeous children Kevin, Michaela and Erin, who reflected their mother's gentle kindness. Lauri was amazing, with so much energy and exuberance! We had long, heartfelt conversations during some difficult times and she always stayed positive and hopeful. Her spirit will live through Kevin, Michaela and Erin; and may the strength she's given them help them through this difficult time.

I had the privilege of knowing Lauri, albeit for all too brief a time. I had the chance to see her in one of her elements - teaching children. Even though I only got to see her interact with her students for about an hour, I learned that she was someone who really loved what she did and cared about the impact she made on those around her, in particular her students. Lauri made a difference, and the world is a better place for her having been a part of it.
My heart aches for Lauri's family and everyone to whom she was close. Though she is no longer with us in her physical form, her spirit will live on through those whose lives she touched. I hope you find strength in one another during this difficult time, and that your memories of Lauri will bring you comfort. You are not alone in your sorrow, and you are in our thoughts.
Love and peace,
Ryan Fleming

Lauri and I worked together at BCBS right after she graduated from college. Lauri was so beautiful on both the inside and outside. Laurie gave me a coffee mug that I still have that reads, "I like you just the way you are" (I was 9 months pregnant at the time). We lost touch throughout the years but I always wondered about her and where she settled down. I always hoped our paths would cross again.
She loved all of her family so much and spoke about you all daily. I was so saddened to open the newspaper today and read about her passing. Please accept my sincerest sympathy for this great loss.
