Jacquelyn Bourne Obituary

79, of Marion formerly of Bourne, died June 8, 2008 in the Sippican Healthcare Center, Marion. She was the widow of the late John Bodfish Bourne and the daughter of the late Alberta Carver. She was born in Boston and lived in Brewster, Bourne and Fairhaven before moving to Marion. She graduated from Salem State College. Mrs. Bourne was an Elementary School Teacher for the Towns of Brewster, Bourne and Wareham for many years before retiring. She served as Trustee of the Jonathon Bourne Library for several years. She loved dogs and cats and had operated Scotch Pine Kennels in Buzzards Bay for many years. She enjoyed traveling, flower gardening and quilting. Survivors include 3 sons, Christopher Bourne of Quincy, Alan Bourne of Brockton and Gregory Bourne of Framingham; a daughter, Evelin Bourne of Christchurch, New Zealand; many cousins including Anna Williams of Sandwich. Her funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., (Rte. 28), Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, High St., Wareham. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Wareham. Visiting hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Cape Cod Animal Care and Adoption Center, 1577 Falmouth Road, Centerville, MA 02632 or to the Jonathan Bourne Public Library, 19 Sandwich Rd., Bourne, MA 02532.
