Linda McCauley Obituary

Died Monday, June 9, 2008 of kidney cancer at her home in Newton. She was 64 years old. Linda received a BA in Liberal Arts from Boston University. She worked as the Assistant Head Librarian at Boston University Law School until 1982. She graduated from the New England School of Photography and operated the Linda McCauley Photography Studio in Cambridge for several years in the early 1990's. During that time she was an active member of Greater Boston Business Council (GBBC). Except for her time spent in portrait photography, Linda was a field technician for New England Research Institutes from 1987 until 2003. She had a flair for interviewing research participants in their homes, eliciting their observations about their lives for a wide range of studies on health and aging. She was among NERI's favorite technicians and once appeared on NOVA during an episode on women and aging. In 2006-2007, Linda was the New Member Coordinator for the First Unitarian Church of Newton (FUSN). Linda's survivors include her spouse, Sheila Ardery, and her beloved sister Barbara McCauley, both of Newton, and many loving friends. A memorial service to celebrate Linda's life will be held on June 22, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at First Unitarian Society of Newton, 1326 Washington St, Newton, MA 02465. Memorial donations may be made to the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies, http://www.coastal studies.org, or First Unitarian Society of Newton, 1326 Washington St, Newton, MA 02465.

Linda was a wondeful gal, with a kind, loving and generous spirit. Her spouse, Sheila, is a dear friend who I shared an apartment with in Somerville when Sheila first came to Boston to attend graduate school.

I send my deepest sympathy to Sheila, Barbara and all their many friends/family who I know will miss Linda tremendously. Although her physical presence has left us, her light will continue to shine and help all those who loved her to heal their hearts. Love, Nancy
