Dear Donna,Kelly, Joe and John...Vera just calledto let me know of Joe's passing....can't tell you how shocked and saddened I was to hear of this terrible news! Joe was the "glue" that kept all of us old friends together and although we didn't see each other often enough, I will miss him terribly. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. He had a heart of gold and was certainly "one of a kind."

Joe Jr., Kelly and John I'm sorry for your loss. Your Dad was a good friend and supporter whenever he was needed. I had the pleasure of working with him on the BPD and he was a joy to work with. You can be proud of the man he was.

Dear Donna, Joe, Kelly & John:
Words cannot express the sorrow I feel over Joe's passing. I couldn't have asked for a finer friend. Even though I only came North on occasion these last few years, I knew I'd get a much welcomed hug when I knocked on his door. I know how much he missed Raymond & Billy and I have faith they are reunited again. I wish I could be there for the funeral and see you all. He was such a good man and never said no when you asked for help. I will miss him, but I do have a storeroom full of wonderful memories.

I remember Joe for all the times he treated me and my brothers John and Greg with kindness and a true concern for our well being when we were little ones. My mother Bette was a dear friend of your family and many times My mum, John Costello and of course, the three of us kids had the times of our lives because your family cared to make sure we were invited to all the cookouts and such that Joe would throw. I was so shocked to hear of the passing of such a great person. I met Joe years ago as a waitress in one of his friend's restaurants and he was always such a pleasant and kind man. His loss will be felt by all who knew him.

Who will I talk to now??? I cannot believe I won't have you there anymore. But, I can see you now with Raymond and Billy. I will miss you so much my oldest and dearest friend. Until we meet again.

My dear Joe Jr., Kelly, John, and family,
Words cannot express how I feel in my heart over our loss; as my best friend and mentor he will always be and is an intrical part of our lives. He would make suggestions along the way life being what it was, and never tell one what they should do in whatever situation arose.
He would give of himself always in his own quiet manner never letting anyone else know the good he was doing. A Remarkable, Honest, and Giving man.

Donna, "Young" Joe, Kelly and John-
I am so sorry for your loss.
In my eyes "Uncle Joe Brine" was the last of "The Mohicans" (Raymond Murphy, John Costello, my dad and your dad). He is my dad's best friend and he is in my memory bank for as far back as it goes.
My heart is aching but I know they are all together in someone's driveway fixing a car or building a porch and I hear their laughter.
My thoughts, prayers and heartfelt sympathy are with you and the entire family.

Dear Donna, Joe, Kelly and John I am still in a state of shock over Joe's death, I cannot believe he is not with us any more. I have so many fond memories of him. Just thinking about the first time I met him he had just joined Boston's finest he looked so cute in his uniform walking the beat on Cornell and Washington St. Than upon opening my business he was my first man to come in and get his hair cut and that says it all 28 years and when I got sick he still came back and said don't get sick anymore I had to go somewhere else and looked what they did to me. We had so many good times not to mention our weekly card games. I will never forget you Joe. May god take care of you because you were the best Friend, Husband, Father and Grandfather anyone could ever have.
