I was shocked to see the news. I had been a friend for over 50 years and had plans to see Doug later this week when we both planned to be in Chicago. My thoughts are with Doug's wonderful parents and siblings whom I remember fondly from my childhood.

Doug was always an inspiration. I worked alongside him in the attic of the Ames Webster house on Dartmouth Street many years ago, have thought of him often, and will miss his presence in the world.
