Naomi Kuebler Obituary
Died on Monday at Sunnyside Nursing Home. Mrs. Kuebler was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved at an early age to Swarthmore, PA, where she attended private & public schools. She later studied for the Ballet Theater and as an artist pupil of Luigi Alberterl, Ballet Master of the Metropolitan Opera. She performed in the opera ballet. Mrs. Kuebler had a long interest in service organizations. Her association with the American Red Cross, both as a professional and volunteer covered a period of more than 50 years. Prior to coming to Syracuse she served as Director of Nursing Services for the Newton, MA Chapter. Since living in Syracuse, she had been an officer & member of the Syracuse-Onondaga Chapter Board of Directors and held assignments on support committees in Nursing and Health, Volunteer Development and Regional Blood Services. By appointment of the National Red Cross she was Chairman of Volunteers for the Central New York Division, a position she held from 1975 to 1983. In 1980, she received the special honor of being made Honorary Nurse by the American National Red Cross in 1979, she received the Syracuse Rotary Community Service Award. While living in the Boston area, she was State Vice president of the Massachusetts Planned Parenthood League and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Family Service Bureau, the TB and Health League, and the Visiting Nurse Association. She received the Mayor's Citation for her work on the Commission for Human Rights. Mrs. Kuebler's husband, the Rev. Dr. Ernest W. Kuebler died in 1992. She is survived by two daughters, Valerie Bardis of Colorado Springs, CO and Cheryl Dickson of Manchester, NH and a son, Christopher C. Kuebler of LaJolla, CA. There are eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kuebler was a Secular Humanist. She is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Larger Fellowship. Mrs. Kuebler requests there be no services. Contributions to the American National Red Cross Central NY Division.
