Age 80, of Pocasset, formerly of Belmont, MA died on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Falmouth Hospital surrounded by his family after a long and courageous fight with cancer. He leaves behind his beloved and devoted wife of 50 years, Marie Ross Klein Timson, his five children: Anne Timson and her husband Paul Currier of Sandwich, Mary Griffin and her husband Frank of Mansfield, Christopher Timson and his wife Beth of Walpole, Margie Mikulskis and her husband Alvydas of West Roxbury and Jean DiBartolomeo and her husband Mike of Hanover. Devoted grandfather of eleven and brother of George Tereshkevitch and family. Born in China during his parent's journey to Indonesia where he was raised. He and his family fled after the Japanese invaded. He learned his first English en route to the United States on a Liberty Ship. In New York he attended the Rhodes School earning his high school diploma in nine months. He earned his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering and a Doctor of Science degree in Bio-Chemical Engineering all at M.I.T. He worked at Linde Co. on the break-through technology of freezing blood. He returned to the Boston area and began a long career with Polaroid in R & D where he authored over twenty useful and innovative U.S. Patents. In 1990 he retired to Pocasset, Cape Cod and spent many happy times with his family sailing his Beetle Cat, clamming and, as he said, "ensuring the tide comes in and goes out twice per day." He was a devout Catholic attending daily mass. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren who gave him special joy including, Marie, Charlie, Rebecca, Billy, Michael, Benjamin, Emily, Paul, John, Ross and Laura. Bill loved to cook and took over the kitchen when he retired. He was well known for his famous and delicious (secret recipe) clam chowder. His family and friends will always remember him by his favorite motto, "kindness and goodwill" which he impressed, by words and actions, upon all those whose lives he touched. The family thanks Dr. Aviles and Dr. Canaday for giving him many "wonderful bonus days" and the staff at the I.C.U. and 3rd floor nurses at Falmouth Hospital for their considerate care of him in his final days. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St., WEST ROXBURY, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 25, at 11:00 AM in St. John Chrysostom Church, 4750 Washington St. West Roxbury. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Boston.
