Allan MaCurdy Obituary

47, of Boston and Boothbay Harbor, ME, died on Monday, June 23rd, holding the hand of his beloved wife, Marie A. Trottier and in the company of their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Lady Rose. Having fought a long and courageous battle over the past thirteen months in the hospital, Allan had already beaten all the odds and medical predictions by living for more than twenty years on a ventilator. A Lawyer and Law Professor, he taught students passionately and vigorously at the BU School of Law. He lived life to the fullest whether at a Red Sox game or visiting with friends on the coast of Maine, eating seafood and savoring wine. Allan was the loving son of William B. Macurdy and Sarah M. (Morison) Eldridge and her husband N. Donald, all of Cataumet. He was the brother of Anne Pardee and her husband Skip of Rockport, and of Jim Macurdy and his wife Kerry of West Barnstable. He was the proud uncle of Skip, Jr., Zachary and Jacob Pardee, and Bill, John, and Shaye Macurdy. Allan was a Board member of Franciscan Childrens Hospital, a founding board member of Partners for Youth with Disabilities (where he and Marie met), Past President and board member of the Disability Law Center Boston and member of the Massachusetts Bar Association. The Petra Foundation honored him in 1994 by naming him a Petra fellow. A Memorial Fund has been established in his name and it is requested that donations be made to: The Allan H. Macurdy Memorial Fund, Boston University, One Sherborn Street, Boston, MA 02215. Funeral Service to be held in The Memorial Church at Harvard University, One Harvard Yard, Cambridge, MA on Saturday at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Dear Sally,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I remember you well from Family TIES and the amazing stories you told about your son. He truly lived his life to the fullest. My son passed away last year, also because of his disability, so I share the profound loss of a child with you and want you to know I am thinking of you.
