Ruth Morse Obituary

Died at age 89 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine after a long and courageous struggle. Ruth was a longtime resident of Melrose. She was a graduate of Medford High School. She was the widow of Thomas Morse, a former teacher, coach and administrator in the Winchester Public Schools. Ruth was Secretary to the VP at American Mutual Co. in Wakefield before retiring in the 1980s. For many years after her husband died, she traveled with her sister, brother in law and dear friends. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and Aunt. Until the end, she retained her wonderful sense of humor, with a twinkle in her eye and a thank you to everyone. She was predeceased by her 2 sisters, Thelma Crossman and Audrey Fraser of Melrose. She leaves 3 children, Judy Smith and her husband Mark of Woolwich, Maine, Coline Morse of New York City, Thomas Morse and his wife Caroline of Melrose. She leaves 7 grandchildren, Steven and his wife Alisa Smith of Wiscasset, Maine, Kristen and Glenn Walling of Hopkinton, NH, Joshua and Jenn Chenoweth of Port Angeles, Washington, Satya Buch and her fiance Harold Chaves, Misha Morse-Buch and his wife, Evija both of New York City, Tommy and Jenna Morse of Melrose. She also leaves 5 great grandchildren, Alyssa, Sammy, Jacob, Clara and Lola and several nieces and nephews whose love, laughter and support kept all of us going through this long journey. Family will greet friends from 12:30 to 2. Funeral Service will be at 2 PM, at the Beals Geake Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Ave., MEDFORD, Mass. Interment will be at a later date. To honor Ruth, thank someone today, especially a stranger who makes a difference in your daily life. Remembrances may go to Gosnell Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Rd., Scarborough, Maine 04074.

I worked with Ruth at American Mutual from 1972/1975. I always make her cheeseball for the holidays. Had lunch every day with her, Fran, Helen, Loretta and Hazel. I am 78 now.
Just the nicest woman!

Dear Judy and Mark,
I was so sorry to hear about your Mom. I know her last years were difficult for you all. I have such great memories of her at your house. She always made us laugh and was so upbeat. We had alot of fun at your house during those high school years. It has made me think of your Dad, also. He was such a great guy, too. I think of him often as we seem to meet many people who went to Winchester High and we always ask if they knew "Mr. Morse". Many of them did and had good thinks to say about him.
I hope your good memories will help you deal with this loss. At last she is at peace.
