I would like to celebrate Betti's incredible life by asking family members to keep her love alive in our connections. To honor Betti's life and love of family, I would like to strengthen our Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin network by inviting you to visit the Midwest and discover the remarkable treasures in the Chicago area. I also want to honor the incredible contributions that Betti Everett has made to all our lives: Her energy, her delight in friendships with us, her longevity, and the spring in her step as she mounted her stairs several times a day in the time honored mansion that Aunt Clara built. The mark she left on my life has been indelible.
I would also like to get Betti’s granddaughter Stephanie's help, and anyone else interested in our family's collective history, to add their stories to enrich our friendships as we get better acquainted. I met Cousin Claire's children at Leslie's wedding some years ago, and now they are young adults whom I would love to meet again, and get their take on the presidential elections coming up in November (as well as anything else they would like to share with me). I would love for Stuart and Kim, my nearby Michigan cousins, to hopefully take part in this also. And I would like to make sure that the Norwood connection—where my parents and so many of our relations lived and are buried, on Winter Street—continues for future generations. I hope that Win, named for Betti’s father, Uncle Win, as well as his son, Winthrop, will help our Norwood history live on.
Sara and Mark Heckman recently married on my 85th birthday, carrying on the tradition of "Sara and Mark" from a few generations ago, and they live close by. (Sarah Elizabeth Belknap, whose portrait has hung over the fireplace at 76 Winter Street for generations, married Mark Chippendale Hoyle, and they were the first of the Hoyles to settle in South Dedham, now Norwood, in a farm across the street from the First Congregational Church.) Housing our Massachusetts friends is part of this plan; we have many beds - so this is not a problem. By visiting and sharing stories, we can honor Betti’s traveling spirit and love of family ties. May the miles that separate us not keep us apart.
Let us know what you think of this idea!
Love,
Cousin Jane Chippendale Stewart Heckman

Aunt Betti has been in my life for over 68 years. I grew up with visits to 76 Winter St. with my Dad and also doing the Memorial Day decorations of the graves at Highland. She never forgot a birthday or Christmas. She will be missed. Love and prayers to Bud, Win and Family. Marion Cottrell Cafferky
