Barbara A. Olson

Of Norwell, formerly of Rockland, age 81, July 10, 2008. Born in Weymouth, Barbara was the daughter of the late Levi R. and Margaret G. (Hurtin) Olson. Barbara graduated in 1945 from Rockland High School, with Honors, where she was also a member of the girl's basketball team and active in many school affairs. She went on to graduate from Bentley College in 1947 from the School of Accounting and Finance. She began a forty-two year career with Hale and Door Law Firm in Boston, starting as a cost accountant and retiring in 1989 as controller of the firm. In 1967, Barbara received a Bachelor's Degree from Bentley College and earned recognition as Outstanding Member of the Graduating Class of the Evening School. She was a member of the Bentley Alumni Assoc. and the Twenty-five Year Club of Hale andDorr. Barbara was also a former member of the Quincy Art Assoc. and an avid reader and follower of the Boston Sports Teams. Barbara is survived by her siblings, Virginia C. Olson of Norwell, John R. Olson of Rockland, Pauline M. Childs of Centerville, Samuel H. Olson of Norwell and many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. She is also the sister of the late Eleanor F. Olson and the late Thomas E. Olson. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 10 a.m. in St. Helen's Church, Washington St. (Rt. 53), Norwell. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 pm at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), NORWELL CENTER. Interment Holy Family Cemetery, Rockland.
