Dianne and Family,

I’d like to express my deepest and most sincere sympathies to you and the entire family.

I had the opportunity to call Steve my friend starting at the ripe old age of “football 9”. Through the years we shared many laughs on weekend mornings as the “BK breakfast club”. He was able to get a rag-tag bunch of high schoolers to hold it together long enough to make it through the breakfast and lunch rushes. Reading through the other posts, it was apparent that he continued to touch and motivate so many others. He was an inspiration to us all and wise beyond his years.

Please remember that he is looking down on us and will always be with us (probably driving that crazy tan Cutlas again)!

Dear Dianne, Lauren, and Sean,

As Charles mentioned below, Stephen wasn’t only our great friend, he was also our hope to live, work and become a part of American society. I met him when he was Assistant General Manager at Radisson Hotel Chelmsford. He used his great experiences and sense of humor to welcome us to his management team in our most difficult days. He was great person, friend and manager. After I know him more, I also discovered his great love to his family.

When Charles mentioned about his passing, I felt that I lost one of my family members in Istanbul. I am extremely sorry. He and his smiley face will always be in my memories.

My deepest condolences to you all. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Dianne, Lauren, and Sean,

I owe my career, and my ability to live and work in the US, to Stephen. He gave me a chance at the Radisson when he didn't have to, and I will be forever grateful for his kindness.

My thoughts and prayers, and those of my family in Kenya, are with you all at this time.

Mr. Whelton was an amazing teacher. He was my teacher this year and he defanitely had a HUGE impact on my LIFE. Hes made me realize that some people (like him) do things just because its the right thing. And he always told me, that even though he wasnt always feeling his best, he would always get out of bed each morning because being there for his studens means more to them then they show. On the last day of school, I told him, "If you come back next year, ill switch into your shop Mr.Whelton." And that offer still stands. But what he didnt know was that either way, i was going to take up hotel because i knew, that even if he wasnt there physiclly, he would always be there mentally, always watching over all his students and helping them get through the school year. Just like he did when he was physically here, hes never let any of us down. He always had the best stories to tell and all the inspiration we needed to understand and go threw life. Even if he may not be here now, he will always be in MY heart. He was actually closer to me then most of the people in my family. And thats why its so hard for me personally, because i really wish i could have said goodbye and told him how much he meant not just to me, but to his students. I can honestly say that he is going to be one of the most missed people in my life. And i will never forget him. my deepest sypathies to all of his family and loved ones.
