Laura Ferguson Obituary

Of Cochituate, formerly of East Hampton, MA, died on July 20, 2008 after a brief illness, with her children at her side. She was 92 1/2, the widow of John K. Ferguson, Sr. Together they raised eight children, often doing without things for themselves. Laura was an extraordinary mother - patient, kind, and supportive of each. She encouraged lifelong learning by example. An avid reader, gardener and former member of the Boston Manuscript Club, Laura had an enthusiastic interest in the arts. She will be greatly missed by her children; Jane Martinez of Greenwich Village, NY and Alton, NH; Susan Waller of Edgartown and Farmington, ME; Nancy Meekins of Edgartown; John Ferguson, Jr. of Quincy; Crissa Evans of York, ME; Margaret Ferguson of Cochituate; Charles Ferguson of Malden, and Andrew Ferguson of King George, VA. She also leaves many dearly loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Elaine for her friendship and loving care. Private family services were held on July 23, 2008 at the Ferguson family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home of COCHITUATE.

Dear Jane Mary and family,
So sorry to read of the passing of your Mum. As I am now at my parents' place, I pass your house frequently, and often think of you and Nancy.
Sincere sympathy,

Dear Nancy and Family,

I was so sad to hear of your mom's passing after Donna MacKenzie called me from Maryland with the news. I hadn't seen her in years, but I remember your mother as a very warm and kind woman. Our little village of Cochituate has lost an old friend! My mother, Barbara Taylor, also sends her sympathies as she is 88 and a contemporary of your mom's. We will be thinking of all of you in the coming days.

Love,
Carol Luukkonen MacGregor
