Val was a girl whom I couldn´t forget because of her energy, laughter, friendliness and her wavy black hair. Her intelligence was in gear at age 10- wow ! Even then, in grade 5, I thought that she would be a fabulous lawyer. She´s still laughing!.
Sincerely,

Dearest Mirkin Family:
I am a friend of Valerie's from Cardozo Law. I cherish a beautiful photo we took together at our graduation. I only learned of her passing while seeking her out so that we may reconnect. We spoke a few years ago, but I have been far away and dealing with my own turbulences in life. I have never stopped thinking about Valerie and I am still shocked and incredibly saddened to learn about this tragedy. Please forgive me, but it is so difficult to comprehend.
Please ask your daughter to call me. I know how close they were and I would so much want to share some beautiful memories with Valerie's dear sister.
I share in your loss. I am so, so sorry.
My prayers are with you.

Dear Mirkin Family-
I am so sad to hear the news about Valerie. I have fond memories of lots of laughter shared with her from Bell School on up through MHS. Of course, we always had that one scary memory of the accident on Treat Road, too. She was a strong, determined girl then and it sounds like she has been one strong, determined woman for many years. My condolences to all of you. Tammy

Dear Mirkin Family,
I have just read of Valerie's death. I was her teacher in 5th grade at Bell School where she was so very lively, intelligent, funny, interesting and talented. Val could argue any point in class! (Remember?) She is one of my past students whom I thought about very often (then and later) and believed would be an outstanding attorney. Her "mop" of black hair and beautiful face kept her image alive
in my mind for all these years. I'm sad for your loss.
Sincerely,
Madelon (Zeuli) Bures

Dear Mirkin Family- Valerie was a friend of mine throughout childhood as we were neighbors (across the street in Greystone Beach) and classmates. I have fond memories of neighborhood playtime when we were kids. Please accept our deepest sympathies from myself & the complete McKeon family.

To the Mirkins -
I'm so sorry to hear of Valerie's passing. She was a vibrant classmate all throughout my school years in Marblehead. Ironically, I had been thinking of Valerie a lot this past month - a friend is riding in the JDRF ride this October, and Valerie's illness was my first exposure to this difficult disease.
My thoughts are with you.

Dear Gordon, Sheila, Bradley and Melissa,
I just learned of Valerie's passing from my mother. I can't remember the last time I spoke to Valerie, but I have such great memories of all of you and the fun times I had in your backyard in the 1970's. I want to offer my condolences and let you know my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Valerie Mirkin was the most elegant gal at our wedding - excepting the bride.
She was also one of the funniest phone conversationalists. (Though I was only the gateway to her phone visits with my lovely wife - she always had sharp insights into what was "really" happening in the world...)
We will miss her mirth, sweetness and most of all her bravery.
