Melvin Shapiro Obituary

Age 93, of Brookline, formerly of Belmont, died at his home, on Sunday, July 27, 2008. Beloved husband for 60 years to Enid A. (Greenberg) Shapiro. Loving father of Laura Shapiro Kramer & Jay Kramer of Manhattan, NY, Robert & Susan Shapiro of Chicago, IL and Amy Shapiro & her partner Catherine Dupar of Milwaukee, WI. Cherished grandfather of Seth and Haya Kramer, Rachel, Katie, Madeleine, and Robin Shapiro, Gabriel Bartlett and Michael Dupar. Dear brother of the late Edna Canner Levine & her surviving husband Irving Levine of CA, the late Phyllis Wasserman, Norton Shapiro & his surviving wife Sylvia Shapiro of Newton and brother-in-law of Allan Green of Cambridge. Services at Temple Sinai, 50 Sewall Avenue, Brookline, on Tuesday, July 29 at 1:00 PM. Interment at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon. Shiva will be observed through Monday, August 4, at his late residence. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hebrew College, 160 Herrick Road, Newton, MA 02459 or HEARTH (formerly the Committee to End Elder Homelessness), 1640 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02118. Laurie and I send our condolence on your Dad's passing. He must have been quite a gentleman, and at 91 witnessed a lot of local and world history. Our mutual birthday now has another in depth significance.
