Kenneth Lovell Obituary

96 years young, quietly passed away June 24th, 2008. Ken was born March 3rd 1912 in Hanover, Massachusetts, the son of Ralph and Clara Lovell. He leaves his wife, Mary Ellen Lovell (nee Disken) of Kennesaw, Georgia. He enjoyed being Dad to three children; Peggy Casey of Tucson, Arizona, Robert Starr Lovell of Kennesaw, Georgia, and Sammie Rhoades of Findlay, Ohio. Ken was Papa, Poppa and Grampy to four granddaughters and four grandsons, six great grandsons and one great granddaughter. He also leaves a sister, Esther Gleason, 98 of Naples, Florida. Mr. Lovell served in the Navy during WWII, and saw action from aboard a destroyer in both the Atlantic and Pacific. Following the Navy he was employed as a machinist. The Lovell family lived in Springfield and Wilbraham, Massachusetts. Ken and Mary retired to Mattapoisett, Massachusetts where they enjoyed a panoramic view of Buzzards Bay for 28 years. Throughout Mr. Lovells life he was an avid gardener and hunter. He enjoyed sailing the K-Jet named for the grandchildrens first initials. Ken was also a member of the Fairhaven Masonic Lodge.
