Joseph Coelho

Of Sandwich formerly of Taunton, husband of Lena (Rose) Coelho. Died on July 26th at Cape Heritage Nursing & Rehab; after a brief illness, at the age of 90. Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late John and Serafina (Berthao) Coelho. Graduated from Taunton High School, class of 1936. A Lieutenant on the Taunton Fire Dept. for many years, retiring in 1982. He also operated Coelho Painting and Decorating for many years. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus; B.P.O. Elks 150 and the Holy Name Society. He was an avid Patriots fan. Besides his wife Lena, he leaves 2 sons, Joseph F. Coelho and his wife Kathy of S. Yarmouth and Paul J. Coelho of Plainville. 3 daughters, Mary Anne Long and her husband Earle of Hauula, HI; Terry E. Rich and her husband Jim of Taunton and Sister Paula Coelho, S.U.S.C. of Boston; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday July 30th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph Church, Taunton at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
