Thinking of you today Dad but that's no different than any other day. I can't believe I have not seen you in 11 years - I know you are around because I can feel you in everything I do. Time passes but the hurt does not go away. Until we meet again - Love and Miss You every moment of every day.

Good Morning Dad:

A year ago today, our lives were changed forever.

I will not look at this as a goodbye.
I will not allow the sorrow of this event to destroy me.
I will embrace what you have taught me through the years and carry that with me.
You have not died. You will forever be a part of my life, and through me you will forever be a part of my children's as well. We are your legacy.
I am proud to have had you in their lives.
I hope they inherit your charm, your good nature, and your charisma. I know with your influence they will grow to become good men.
You have raised me to the best of your ability and for that I want to thank you.
Thank you for being kind, thank you for being stronger than you know, and most of all, thank you for loving us.
You have inspired me to live life to the fullest, and never back down.
I will not be taken over by the anger and frustration of your loss.
Instead, I will remember the days when I was young and you were my hero.
I will see you in my dreams.
There you will forever be healthy and strong.
In time, I hope to embrace your freedom, freedom from the pain, and freedom from the weight of your illness.
Sorrow is inevitable, but I will face this with the same courage you did, because I am you, and you are my Father.
Until we meet again, love and miss you.
Always your daughter -- Diane

Godd Morning Dad:
Happy Father's Day !!!

Over the past 11 months we have celebrated many holidays without you but this day by far has to be the worse. My first Father's Day without you. We are given one Dad who without a doubt can never be replaced. Missing you today more than ever. You were and will always be the best Dad anyone could have ever hoped for. Thinking of you always - Love, Diane.

Good Morning Dad:

It's Memorial Day - a day that is so very sad for us because you are a part of what once was weeks of you placing flags on graves of deceased veterans. We now place a flag at your gravesite to remember a great man who once served his country, who was so proud and dedicated to the Marine Corps, and who was a part of the greatest generation to ever walk this earth. We celebrate this one day and remember your service to this country but we have every day to remember you as the greatest Dad !!! Time has not healed this broken heart nor has it eased the pain. As each day passes I miss you more. I ask myself why you - why didn't we have just one more year or just one more day with you. The question will never be answered just like the sadness in my heart or tears on my face will never go away. Love and Miss You - Diane

Hi Dad:

On my way to work this morning got a sudden urge to turn off Rte. 1 and come to see you. It was so quiet and peaceful standing there in front of you. I have some great news -- your grandson Richie has finally decided on a college. He is headed to Ohio State in September. I know as he begins his training as a professional pilot you will be with him with each taken off and landing. Wish you were here to see how exicted he is. Thinking of you always.

Love, Diane

Good Morning Dad:

When I made my daily visit to you yesterday I was surprised by the beautiful headstone that had been placed at your grave. It hasn't seemed real to this point but seeing your name and Marine Corp. insignia engraved in granite finally made me realize you are gone. I guess seeing the headstone and foot plaque was what I needed for closure. A wonderful, caring, generous man has left this earth in body but has left behind so many memories. Your spirit walks among us daily as we remember you with a tear and a smile. Love and miss you 24/7 - Diane

Happy Easter Dad !

You are in our thoughts and prayers each day but you will hold a special place in our hearts today. With each passing holiday we miss you more and more but will always remember the time we spent with you. Nothing can ever take the place of your smiling face as we walked towards you with an Easter bread, a slice of pizza chena and a chocolate bunny. The simple things in life made you the happiest.

Rest peacefully Dad - Love and miss you - Diane

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD !!!!!

Good Morning Dad. We are all on our way to church to celebrate your birthday. Know we are with today and thinking of all the past birthdays we shared with you. Little Richie is on his way to Spain this afternoon with his high school class and teachers. Watch over him while he is away and bring him home safe. This will be the first time he is away from us but because he is leaving on your birthday I know you will be with him.

Good Morning Dad:

The snow is falling, the kids are home from school and it's my birthday! Can you believe it - 39 again !!! Wishing you were here to share this day with me. I will always remember my last birthday with you - sharing that piece of cake and seeing that look on your face when I would take a forkful. How you loved your sweets. Thinking of you always and I know that you are with me today.

Love you, Diane

Happy New Year Dad:

2009 has arrived! I cannot believe another year has passed so quickly. As a child you never realized when the year was beginning or ending but as an adult with my own children time seems to pass so fast. Mike and I are taking down the Christmas tree; just like you and I used to do. The ornaments would be packed away neatly and the tree was cut and packed in a box. You couldn't even tell there was a tree in that box waiting on the curb for the garbage men to arrive. We laugh about it every year. Thinking of you with each breath I take. I know you are with us because I feel your presence all around me. We now have our own special guardian angel watching over us throughout the year.

Love and Miss You Diane.

December 29, 2008

Dad:
How has time gone by so quickly? It is five months since I last saw you. There has not been one single day or moment that you were not in my thoughts. Christmas has passed and the New Year is approaching. The holidays are very sad this year but our memories of you got us thru. Rest assured Dad that you are with us every day and as each day passes it bring me one day closer to seeing you again.
Love You, Diane

Merry Christmas Dad:

Thinking of you this Christmas morning and miss you more than ever. Our first Christmas without you - how do I get thru this day! I know you are at peace and are looking down upon us all, but I can't begin to describe how much it hurts not to have you here. Your smiling face and gentle touch can never be replaced.
Love and miss you - Buon Natale - Diane

December 21, 2008

Good Morning Dad:

It is 10 a.m. on Sunday morning. We had our first big snow storm of the year. I just finished cleaning the walkway and with each shovel I thought of you. I remember having to shovel out a parking spot for you in East Boston and putting a trash barrel to hold the spot until you came home from work. Remember going to the Liberty Market during the Blizzard of '78 with a sled and milk crate to buy groceries. And when we were little how Nana would yell because we left snow all over the stairs; she would clean on her hands and knees with a rag and dishpan of hot water. It is funny how the memories coming flooding back while watching the snow pile up outside my window. Know that I think of you every moment of every day; if only I had you back even for just one more winter. I would shovel as much as you wanted 24 hours a day. I miss you more than words can say.

Rest peacefully Dad under your blanket of white -- I will see you soon. Love you always, Diane

Good Morning Dad:

Today is our first Thanksgiving without you. It is almost four months and I still cannot believe you are gone. By now the boys and I would have been preparing your turkey dinner but instead I sit here alone remembering all of the past Thanksgiving Days -- remember going to the Eastie/Southie football game in the freezing cold? Richie will be awake soon and heading off to his last Masco football game. His senior year - can you believe it !!! I wish you were here to see what a man he has turned out to be. Mike is my challenge but I know his future will be great -- he has your middle name for guidance.

You will be with us today because there will be many Sammy stories to share!!!
Happy Thanksgiving Dad - Love and Miss You - Diane

November 20, 2008

Today the Bedford VA had a Memorial Remembrance for residents of Building 62CD who had passed on to a better place within the last six months. As I sat with a tear in my eye and a smile on my face there you were larger than life on a big screen in front of me. Everyone talked about what a wonderful man you were and how you loved your food; especially your sweets. We all miss you very much and we all agree that you have left us with many memories that will live on forever. Rest peacefully Dad knowing that I think of you every day and that you have left me with the greatest gift --wonderful memories !!!!!

Love and Miss You - Diane

Dad:

Another Veteran's Day is upon us and as we honored you in life, we now must honor you in death. You are truly my hero and I miss you more than words can say. Watch over our men and women serving this country today and bring them home safely. The American and Marine Corp. flags will forever fly at my home as a constant reminder of you and all that you have done.

Rest Peacefully Dad - Love you Diane

Papa,
It's been 3 months and I miss you very much. I have so many memories like me, you, and Tiffany eating out of the ice-cream carton and drinking out of the soda bottle. And when we come to visit you to feed you meatballs and macaroni and you eat with your hands. I have so many thoughts that I can't even think of all of them. Papa I love you very very much and will never stop thinking of you!! :)

September 29, 2008

Dad:

It has been two months since we lost you. They say time heals all wounds but my broken heart just won't seem to mend because I miss you more with each passing day. My daily visits with you on my way home from work bring some sense of peace but will never take the place of seeing your smiling face.

Know you are in my thoughts 24 hours a day.
Love and miss you, Diane

August 3, 2008

Dear Dad:

It is Sunday morning and by now the kids would be awake to begin our day by visiting you. The car would be packed with your favorite macaroni and meatballs (ziti with the lines) and a dessert you loved. I will never forget the look and smile on your face as we walked towards you with a Dunkin Donut coffee and jelly donut. How I wish I could wipe the jelly from your face right now. It is amazing to me how the little things in life mean so much right now. A walk around the VA on a sunny morning or watching I Love Lucy if the weather was too cold or rainy to go outside.

Although you are not with me in body I know you are here with me every step of the way. Rest in Peace Dad; I am with you always. I placed a picture of us together over your heart as I said my final goodbye. You will be in heart forever. I love you and miss you.

Your coffee and jelly donut are on the way !!!

Love You - Diane

Today is our first day without you. As I sit here this morning with a tear in my eye and a smile on my face, I remember the times you made us laugh. Telling us a funny story or entertaining the grandchildren with whatever they wanted to do.

I cannot ever forget the way you welcomed me into your family, and always treated me like I was the greatest gentleman on earth. Rest assured my friend, that I will take care of your little girl and my family, by following your lead.

Dear Dad -
Today is your wake, and I'm sure we are going to hear many funny "Sammy" stories.
I just want to thank you for always being there for us. You were a great Husband, Dad, father-in-law and Papa. I know how you hated that drive to the South Shore - it seemed like the end of the world to you - but you would do it with a smile if we ever needed you for the endless house repairs.
As I child I can remember all our fun vacations in New Hampshire even though you spent part of the day working to fix all the refrigeration up there. How do I forgot all those fun days when you owned the Dairy Queen and then the Donut Shop.
We love you and will miss you.

Mr. Albanese,
Sir, as a fellow Marine I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USMC during WW II and the Korean War. It was the history and accomplishments made by you and your fellow Marines back then-especially at Iwo Jima that all us Marines who followed in your footsteps have always tried to live up to. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

R.I.P Papa Sam I will love you forever. You were like another father to me. All of the memories we shared when we used to eat ice cream out of the carton and Gram would always yell. I was always your little angel. I have my favorite picture of you sitting in my room. Its the picture of when we were in Florida and I was taking a bath and I would not let anyone take me out of the bath tub but you. Eastern Doughnut was the best place, we used to always make those lovely donuts together and laugh all day long. You were always the one to put a smile on my face. You were the most generous person in the world and I dont think anyone could think otherwise. I promise you I will do my best always and I will always take care of the orange tree that is in Florida for you. I love you always Papa and I will never forget you. I love you with all my heart and I hope you are very happy in heaven. I will think about all the good and bad times we have and I will try not to cry even though it will be hard not too. <3

Papa, thank you so much for all of the good times that we shared together. It seems like yesterday that we were playing cars on your kitchen table after my mom dropped me off to spend the day with you. From playing with the lobsters at Christmas to filling the jelly donuts at Eastern Doughnut I will cherish these moments forever. Although I never got the chance to tell you in person, I would also like to thank you for your bravery and determination during your years in the Marine Corps protecting our country. In the future I know our paths will cross again so until then, thank you for everything.
