Lydia Margaret Bean

Lydia Bean Obituary

Died on July 24, 2008 at the Jack and Engrid Meng Hospice Residence in DePere, WI. She was born on May 11, 1923 at home in Winthrop, MA, to Elmer Wharton and Laura (Morrow) Wharton. She graduated from Somerville High School in MA in 1940, and attended business school to learn to operate adding machines. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles L. Bean on April 11, 1945. He preceded her in death in 2002. Lydia worked for Hood Milk Co. for many years and she also worked for American Mutual Insurance Co. doing data entry for over 10 years. She retired to NC in 1982, and enjoyed gardening, quilting, and reading. Lydia is survived by 3 children: Judith "Judy" (David) Meek of Pulaski, WI, Charles L., Jr. (Susan) Bean of Salem, MA and Elizabeth "Betsy" (William) Fearnow of Paradise Valley, AZ. She is further survived by 4 grandchildren: Janet (Paul) Wervey of Mukwanago, WI; Scott (Frances) Meek of Shiocton, WI; and Sarah (Jeff) Fearnow of Tucson, AZ; R. Dawson (Maggie) Fearnow of Phoenix, AZ; 2 great grandchildren: Jacob Wervey and Micaela Fearnow; a 3rd great grandchild is expected in November, 2008. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers: Elmer Wharton, Jr. and John E. Wharton; and her sister Ruth Symonds. A private family Memorial Service will take place at a later date.
