Marjorie Bard Obituary

Loving mother and grandmother, passed away July 16, 2008 at the Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia of complications from a stroke. Born on April 18, 1932 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Henry Bigelow Jackson of Milton, Massachusetts and the late Mary Augusta Field Jackson of Lee, Massachusetts. Marge graduated in 1950 from Milton Academy in Milton, MA and in 1954 from Smith College in Northampton, MA. She will always be remembered for her keen intellect, sensitivity to others, remarkable resilience and unwavering devotion to her children and grandchildren. Her main interests included golf, tennis and bridge. She is survived by her four children; John C. (Maureen) Bard, Jr. of Palo Alto, CA, Elizabeth B. (Dan) Knowles of Cincinnati, OH, Catherine M. Bard of Charlotte, NC, and James W. (Alicia) Bard of Alpharetta, GA; her two brothers, Frederick W. (Barb) Jackson of Marblehead, MA and Thomas R. (Robin) Jackson of Weston, MA; her sister, Barbara J. (Kennett) Burnes of Chestnut Hill, MA; and nine grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, August 8th, at 1:00 pm at the Milton Academy Chapel, 170 Centre Street, Milton, MA with a reception to follow at Wigg Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Arthritis Foundation, PO Box 96280, Washington, DC 20077 or at www.arthritis.org.
