Elaine Ng Obituary

Of Belmont, Born in Hunan, China, died in a Boston hospital, on May 25, 2008. She was 66. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dr. Raymond Eng of Belmont, sister Rebekah Wu and her husband Eddie of Pebble Beach, CA, another sister Ruby Chu and her husband Ben of Palo Alto, CA, brother Dr. Robert Wong of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, daughter Dr. Sybil Eng and husband Tad Roselund and grandsons Andrew and Jack Roselund of Montclair, NJ, and son Dr. Warren Eng and his wife Dr. Cynthia King and grand-daughter Elisa Eng of Bethesda, MD.{M1} A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 10 a.m. in the Brown and Hickey Funeral Home at 36 Trapelo Road, BELMONT, Burial will be private, at the Mount Auburn Cemetery. Her professional accomplishments illustrate the hallmarks of her personality: adaptability and a strong work ethics. Elaine assumed responsible positions at MIT's Computing Center, Chemical Engineering Dept., and Energy Lab. In 1979 she co-authored a paper, published in a British journal, which formed the basis of the Advanced System for Process Engineering, (ASPEN), project. Her excellent efforts as a member of a MITRE systems engineering team for the Military Airspace Management System (MAMS) program that assisted in a fielded system used in the Gulf War earned Dr. Ng a 1993 Program Recognition award from the Dept. of Defense. In 1997 Dr. Ng also earned a MITRE Presidents Award.
