"Jean you never cease to amaze me"
was what you´d say to me...& even to this day, I can hear your voice, I can see your smile...your last visit to our home, you stood by the kitchen & ate a pomfret & kept complimenting me, how delicious it was... RIP dearest Vernon, wishing you a Very Happy Birthday in Heaven

Dear Lois, Vernon Jr., Sandy, Teddy and Mandy,
Michael, Surya, Tara, Monisha, Selwyn and I would like to express our deepest sympathy to each and every one of you- you have lost a husband, a father, a grandfather. Michael and I have lost a dear brother and our children a loving uncle.
Vernon’s sad demise has left a void in our family, as I think back, warm and vivid memories of Vernon as a brother flood my minds eye. As children, we were constant companions and I enjoyed playing with Vernon. We would climb trees run around the narrow concrete parapet around our home in Mangalore, play hide and seek, cycle and not to forget the fond memories of the wonderful family holidays we shared. The list can go on and on…… As he grew older he became a voracious reader like my mother. To me he was always a role model, so I also followed in their footsteps.
Vernon grew up into a handsome young man. He was unassuming and god fearing. God also blessed him with a towering intellect, and he distinguished himself in academics. At a very young age he ventured across the seas leaving behind a secure home and life to build a career on his own in the most admirable way. His sheer determination, exceptional brilliance, and outstanding medical acumen stood him in good stead in the steady climb to a distinguished medical career. We proudly salute him. To quote the former president of India Mr. Abdul Kalam, “he dreamed high, and worked hard to realize his dream.”
For the last two years, while he was battling a dreadful terminal illness, he weathered the pain patiently. Every time we spoke to him, he was gentle, loving, always spoke pragmatically of his illness and never complained. He fought hard to overcome his illness with great effort and determination, eager to swing back again. But God decreed otherwise. It is difficult to comprehend Gods ways, but he bowed down to Gods will, with resignation. At last, his gallant soul took flight to the land where there is no night, no pain, no illness or sorrow of any kind but where flowers bloom, good reigns and dear ones at the heavenly gate wait to welcome him to their heavenly home. We pray to almighty God to rest his soul in blissful peace. His illness also brings us a powerful message that suffering has an important part to play in the life of any one who wishes to achieve the fullness of life.
We will forever cherish the memories – pleasantly nostalgic and sometimes exasperating! And sadly remember the ones at the end.
Vernon loved his family tenderly and was very protective and generous towards them- he was a loving and devoted husband, a great father, a doting grandfather and a caring brother. Lois, you have been a caring wife and inspite of your own ailments, have taken good care of Vernon and always been there by his side. Let your grief be softened knowing you have only placed your loved one in the loving heavenly fathers care. Vernon Jr. Sandra Teddy and Mandy you made frequent visits back to spend quality time with him and take care of him, he expressed that he looked forward to your visits.
We know how tragic and heart wrenching it is for all of you. At this hour of pain and sorrow, we share your grief and pray for you in a special way. We pray that the good lord lifts him up to heaven- the heavenly reward god almighty reserves for his faithful servants.
To us Vernon is not dead, only gone to a brighter more wonderful dawn. So while he sleeps and his voice is still, his spirit goes on and it always will. He is our ambassador in God’s heavenly home.
Lovingly and sorrowfully
