Donald Love Obituary

Of Oriole, CT & Wilton, NY, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 12th at his home. He was 88. Born on January 1, 1920 in Melrose, MA, he was the son of the late Frederick Spencer Love and Emily Evelyn Love. Mr. Love served in the United States Coast Guard. Donald received his BS from the New England Conservatory of Music and later received his degree in counseling, masters of education from Boston University in 1956. Mr. Love worked throughout New England as a teacher and guidance director. His final position was for the City of Melrose Public School system as a Guidance Director. Donald met his wife Elaine in 1963 and they married in 1976. They moved to Saratoga Springs, NY in 1989. Donald was an artist in many aspects. He loved painting and painted throughout his life. Donald produced oil paintings to numerous to mention. He was also proficient in pottery and sculpture. He produced a number of very expressive male figures. Mr. Love also had a great love of opera. Survivors include his wife Elaine, a stepdaughter Lani Kennedy of Woonsocket, RI, a niece Melanie Gillick and her husband Edward, step grandchildren and step-great grandchildren and several grand nephews and nieces. A remembrance of Donald will be held at the Tunison Funeral Home 105 Lake Ave. Saratoga Springs, from 5-7 tonight. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery on Friday at 1 PM. Memorial donations can be made in his memory to Hospice of Saratoga, 131 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Donald'ss family would like to thank the staff and the doctors of Saratoga Hospital for the care Don received in his recent hospitalization.
