Martina Duffy Obituary

Of Kingston, 82 years of age, passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital on Thursday, August 14, 2008. She was born in Boston, lived in South Weymouth from 1951-1969, was a Braintree resident from 1969-2003, and Kingston resident from 1948 until present. She also maintained a winter home in Naples, Florida. She was a communicant of the St. Thomas Moore Church in Braintree, as well as St. Josephs in Kingston, and St. Elizabeth Setons in Naples, FL. Martina is survived by her loving husband, Raymond F. Duffy, to whom she had been married for 60 years. She had five devoted children: Anne Duffy Littlefield married to Robert H. Littlefield of Acton, Raymond F. Duffy, Jr. of South Salem, NY, Michael J. Duffy married to Susan Duffy of Duxbury, Robert J. Duffy married to Elizabeth Duffy of North Andover, and Martina Duffy Mehl married to Walter Mehl of East Sandwich. She also had sixteen adoring grandchildren: Chas., Miles and Casey Littlefield, Bryan, Taylor, Raymond Francis III Trey, Bailey, Torre, Evan, Laurel, Michael, Sarah, Paige and Blaine Duffy, Zachary and Caitlin Mehl. She is the sister of Kay McWilliams of Medfield, Lawrence Gillis of Canton, Joseph Gillis of Billerica, Herbert Gillis of Canton, Joan Keenan of South Weymouth and the late Loretta Bertolon of Quincy, Jean Callahan of Dorchester, Rosemarie Mulhern of Stoughton, and Anne Ruell of Braintree. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Martina was Treasurer of R. F. Duffy Associates, a Past President of Sweet Adelines Womens Barbershop Group and the Braintree Rotary Ann's. As a young woman she also danced in U.S.O. shows. She was particularly known for her devotion to her grandchildren, her singing, knitting, and delicious cookies. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Tuesday at 8:30 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Josephs Church, Kingston at 10 AM. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 PM. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Kingston. Memorial donations may be made to Autism Speaks, 5455 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 2250, Los Angeles, CA 90036 or the Trey Duffy Scholarship Foundation, c/o Susan Bailey, Atlanta Braves, 755 Hank Aaron Drive, Atlanta, Georgia 30315-1120.
