Warren Baltimore Obituary

Warren R. Baltimore, age 74, of Nantucket, died August 12, 2008 in Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He was the husband of Judith Wellnitz Baltimore to whom he had been married 44 years. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, a son of the late Mark Baltimore and the late Bess (Tenenbaum) Baltimore, he spent his youth in Lynn, lived in Columbus, Ohio for 45 years and summered in Nantucket since 1988 before moving there permanently in 2005. A Life Insurance Agent, Mr. Baltimore worked for the New York Life Insurance Company for 40 years, retiring in 2006. Prior to that he had worked at Ross Laboratories in Columbus, OH and Hartford, CT and in sales at Air-Shields Company in Hatboro, PA. He was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1952 and attended Boston College, Class of 1956. He received his Masters of Science in Financial Services from The American College of Life Underwriters, Bryn Mawr, PA. Very active in the Million Dollar Round Table, he was a life member and served on the Fund Raising Committee for ten years. He was a charter member of the NY Life's Chairman's Council and received numerous awards including being the leading producer in his office for many years. Active politically in Democratic Politics on the local, state and federal level, in 1974 he served as Campaign Director for John H. Glenn's race for US Senate winning the general election with the largest vote ever in Ohio. An active alumnus of Boston College, he served on the Development Fund, as Chairman of its Admissions Committee for Ohio and was an avid Boston College football, basketball and hockey fan. Mr. Baltimore was very involved with his children's activities in all levels of their education, active in Big Brothers Assn. and supported his wife's community efforts. Mr. Baltimore enjoyed reading, cooking (especially BBQ), family vacations and spending time at the beach on Nantucket. Surviving in addition to his wife: sons: Warren R. Baltimore II and his wife Rebecca D. of Crofton, MD, Mark H.W. Baltimore and his wife Heidi G. of Needham, MA, Robert M. Baltimore and his wife Mary M. of Richmond, VA, daughter Carol Baltimore Evens and her husband Erik C. of Nantucket, MA, sister Muriel Rudzinsky and her husband Louis of Revere, MA, brother Lester Baltimore and his wife Susan Levering of Huntington, NY, grandchildren: Warren III, Joanne, Cooper, Grady, Jack, Casey, Cole, Hannah and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Lara Baltimore. A Celebration of His Life will be Friday Aug. 22, 2008 at 12 noon in The Unitarian Meeting House, 11 Orange St., Nantucket. Relatives and friends invited. Hi Judy and Family-Adrienne and I are so sorry to hear about Warren's passing. We didn't know until I "Googled him" on my computer a short time ago. He had such a great love of life, was such an outgoing guy. My kids still remember when he was the Similac guy in Springfield and how much fun we had together. I'm sure your great family has been very supportive.
