It is with a heavy heart that we said goodbye to Helen yesterday. I personally will miss her phones calls, her interest in my family, and all the wonderful things she knit for them over the course of many years. This was how she left her mark on so many...through knitting. Helen was one of the most positive individuals I knew. Always looking on the bright side of life and always encouraging and supportive. She was always interested in what Phil and I were up to and she adored our kids. Helen was like one of my mothers. She was the final name on my mother's day list. I will miss not being able to acknowledge her on Mother's Day. My last phone call with Helen was about three weeks ago. She was chipper and upbeat although she acknowledged that things were getting tough and she was losing weight. We talked for quite awhile and I am so glad we did.
For you Helen, an old Pueblo prayer that I happen to love.
Hold on to what is good,
even if it is a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe,
even if it is a tree that stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do,
even if it is a long way from here.
Hold on to your life,
even if it is easier to let go.
Hold on to my hand,
even when I've gone away from you.
With much love and deep sadness, we will always remember you Helen. Dance in the heavens with Bud, my mom, Bee and my son, Todd.
