Dear Del, Agnes, and Diane,
Thank you so much (Agnes) for calling me today. I am so sorry to learn of your mother's death last summer. I didn't know, and I can't believe my dear friend, Ruthie, is gone. We met some 30 years ago, and I loved her like a sister. Ruthie and I shared more fun and laughs over the years, and hearing of her death today leaves me shocked and terribly sad. We didn't talk as often as we used to, and I wish I could've spent just one more day with her.
In fact, I'm upset at myself for not being there to support all of you last August and to say a final "goodbye" to my good friend. Ruthie was a very special person, a huge spark in my life, and her passing will leave a nagging void in my heart.
I will always remember the wonderful times we shared. You know what a character she was, and I so enjoyed her company, conversation, support, wisdom, humor, and especially, her Italian cooking, more than I can ever express.
I consider myself lucky to have known her, to have had her in my life, and I will miss her crazy, loving, and cheerful spirit.
I also know, firsthand, just how much Ruthie loved and cherished each of YOU--her beautiful daughters. She talked (and bragged) about you (and her grandchildren) incessantly, every time we were together. You meant the world to her, and she was a proud and fierce protector, like every mother should be.
I'm really going to miss Ruth, but today I will pause, say a prayer, dry my tears, and celebrate her life and our long and wonderful friendship.

Agnes
I'm very sadden to hear of the loss of your mother. She was such a lovely person, I enjoyed sitting with her at the club and talking to her. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this most difficult time.

Ruthie was a great lady and a lot of fun. The Saunders Family send their prayers. Ruthie and my mother Dotty Amendola were best friends growing up in Cambridge and Ruthie fixed Court and Dot up on a BLIND DATE and they married in 1953 and had Bill, Bob, Jean and Rick. I guess all of us owe it all to Ruthie! We will miss her!
