Age 94 of Braintree formerly of South Boston Aug. 18,2008. Beloved wife of the late John J. Coleman. Loving mother of John J. Coleman & his wife Dorothy of Cohasset, Richard F. Coleman & his wife Mary of Weymouth & Paul E. Coleman & his wife Edna of Norton. Loving Grandmother of Jean Carroll, Michael Coleman, Stephen Coleman, Patricia ODonnell, Karen OKeefe, James Coleman & the late John Jackie Coleman. Also survived by 6 Great Grandchildren. Funeral from the North Weymouth McDonald Funeral Home 40 Sea St. (off Rt.3A- Bicknell Sq.) Friday at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Jeromes Church North Weymouth at 9:00 Oclock. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marys memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

I would like to share some memories of Mae over the past years.

When I first came into the Coleman family, Mae welcomed me with open arms and she always made sure I felt comfortable and loved.

When James (Tiago) got sick a few times when he was little and unable to go to school, she would care for him for a few hours until Paul was able to pick him up. She provided all the comfort he needed and sometimes they even played cards together.

She loved feeding anyone who came to her house; so you would better be hungry if you went over her house! She always had treats for the children and grown ups. Since we’re talking about treats, it isn’t a secret that she loved sweets and chocolate. So whenever we went to Brazil and picked-up a little gift for her, we also knew if we didn’t bring her some Brazilian chocolates, she would be upset.

Mae loved having her family around her and having FUN. For example, many Christmas Day we spent together at Richard and Mary’s house. Some of the memories there was playing Pictionary and another tradition was singing “The 12 Days of Christmas” Mae had a special way to sing in a voice fit for Carnegie Hall “5 Golden Rings” which at this point everyone would burst out laughing.

Mae also taught me that you can love without barriers or borders. Whenever my mother came from Brazil to visit us and we got together with Mae; she had a special way to communicate with my mother, even though neither one of them spoke each other’s language.

She also taught me some practical things such as cooking; I had to call Mae several times on how to cook something and that’s how I learned how to prepare a delicious roasting chicken and potato salad which included pickle juice.

These actions are only a snapshot of how Mae lived her life. She lived with a compassionate heart, kindness and determination. Thank you Mae for your love and teachings. You have run the race of life with grace and wisdom and for that I am eternal grateful. I am going to miss you.

Johnny, Richie, Paul and families -- Aunt May was a warm and loving Aunt, of whom I have many fond childhood memories. She will be missed by all, but especially her loving family. Hold on tight to the really good memories, and she will be forever in your hearts. Love to you all at this sad time.
