To Bart Heller's family--I was deeply saddened to hear of Bart's death. He took care of my husband, Charles, from the time he came on staff at Norwood Hospital. Charles had previously suffered a massive coronary, and had had life-saving experimental surgery before we met.
Thanks to him, though well-known cardiac specialists in Boston stated that Charles would be unable to do more than go from chair to bed (he was in his early 50's), Bart wouldn't accept that prognosis. Instead, he had him come back to Norwood Hospital, admitted him, and worked to change his medications, and within 5 days had him walking up a flight of stairs at the hospital. Though he passed away a few years later, his quality of life was greatly improved thanks to Bart's persistence.
Bart never forgot how to practice the ART of medicine along with the SCIENCE--he listened to his patients!!!
Again, you have my deepest sympathy!!

Uncle Bart made our dear Aunt Mary happy and for that we are forever grateful. They both left us too soon, but at least they can be together again. Rest in peace Uncle Bart.

What sad news . . . another terrible loss. Bart volunteered as the first medical director of the Chernobyl Children Project USA. He demonstrated caring and concern as the project took on the increasingly complex health needs of children in this forgotten region of the world. As recently as last summer he and Mary hosted the visiting Russian and Belarussian physicians and interpreters for an outing at their home in Brewster. Their devotion, friendship and humor will be sorely missed.

We are going to miss Bart and Mary for the rest of our lives. So much fun we had: spending winters together in Indio, CA, the RV trip to Quartszite, AZ, bike riding every week, and especially the 3 wk visit to their Cape Cod home and the week together on a barge trip in France last summer. We are so sorry for your loss, and ours.

Dear Maddy, Michael, the Trotter/Heller Families.
We were so sorry to hear of Bart's passing. We did visit with him and Mary at their Brewster home. Bart and I were classmates together at Spring Valley High School and I have such great memories of those wonderful years. We know with the support of family and friends you will get through this most difficult time.

So hard to believe Bart is gone. I was working at the Norwood Hospital when Bart arrived and when
he retired, much too soon. We had
a great time, Sharon, remember the
Hospital Gala at South Station? Bart
and Mary co-chaired, the "special
train" delivering us to the dinner/dance. Pool parties at Blueberry Lane and the beautiful
doll house he made for you. Mary
was my supervisor and Bart was
my director. We have lost two
wonderful, caring, loving people,
my deepest sympathy and prayers
to everyone. We can all cherish
our wonderful memories.
