Mary Muldoon Obituary

Of Weston, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, August 18, 2008. She had been a resident of Weston for 50 years. She was 85. Born on March 28, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, Eileen was the daughter of the late Michael and Hilda (Holland) McDonnell. She graduated from Saint Xavier College in Chicago. A chief stewardess with United Airlines, Eileen moved to Boston in 1952, where she met and married James B. Muldoon, to whom she was married for 46 years. A devoted wife and mother, Eileen along with Jim, settled in Weston and raised four children. Mrs. Muldoon was a daily communicant of St. Julia Parish in Weston and a longtime Sacristan. Active in the Community League of Weston, including the Garden Club and the Clothing Exchange, she also volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels, providing transportation through the FISH program, and was recently recognized for 25 years of service to the Pine Street Inn. In addition, Mrs. Muldoon devoted many volunteer hours in countless ways to her community. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 46 years, James B. Muldoon, and her brothers Patrick and Michael McDonnell, Eileen is survived by her sister, Susan McCarthy and her husband Judd of Chicago, son Brian of Weston, daughters Alanna of Weston, Martha and Carolyn Davis of Newburyport, and Susan Dunholter, her husband Lee, and their two children Molly and James of Peterborough, NH, as well as many loving Godchildren, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral on Saturday, August 23 at 9 AM from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St., (Rte. 20), WALTHAM followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Julia Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston at 10 AM. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Boston Post Road, Weston. Visiting hours are Friday, August 22, from 4-8 PM. The family has requested that donations be made in memory of Eileen to the Pine Street Inn, 444 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA 02118.
