In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

It hasn't been easy since you were taken from us, mom. We weren't ready for you to leave us. You always had such a fighting spirit that nothing would slow you down. After all you had been through in your life, we thought that cancer didn't stand a chance and it picked the wrong woman to mess with. I will always remember how you never gave up, never. I will always remember you completing school work online up until the moments before you left us. I cherish the times we shared together and the lessons you taught me. Thank you for protecting me mom. We love and miss you incredibly. Your son, Mark, daughter-in-law Laura, grandson Malcolm and grand daughter Cadence.
