Dear Alice and Family; You are suffering the loss of a husband and father and there is no greater loss than this. We have lost a wonderful friend and former co-worker, but truly a friend , Jack was. Jack and I were pretty close. I valued his friendship and gained from his wisdom. Alice, we can look back at some wonderful times together, especially our tour of the "Lake's District," that Jack so beautifully planned. The laughs that we had, the train ride, the narrow lanes that Jack so masterfully drove through, bending back the side mirrors, and yes, the loss of the bottle of whiskey at the train station as we unloaded the car for our trip back to London. "The old Gentleman" as you referred to him as was a lively old gentlemen, with his quick wit and cork screw mustache, and impish laugh when he was at his happiest. Remeber how he got James Herriet to come out of his office to see us after his public hours, saying,"we have come all the way from America to see you!" Imagine this world renowned author coming out to see these people from America, at the proding of an English accent. Only our Jack could pull that off, and he signed our "All Creatures Great and Small," that was Jack. Our trips to Portsmouth are also fondly remembered. I'm sorry that we couldn't be at Jack's service yesterday, we have just concluded a month long planned surprise 25th anniversary party for our oldest daughter. Peggy is like a second mother to her sisters and brothers, as she had no children of her own. Mary and I cooked and prepared for 60 people and had the surprise under a huge tent in our yard. We will write to you shortly, but for now, We are grateful for your friendship and Jack's memory. With love, Mary & Jim Powers

To the Orme Family
I have many fond memories of visiting with Mr and Mrs. Orme. They treated me as family since 1984.
Chris, I'm sorry I cannot be with you to offer support. You know you and the family are in my prayers.
Love
Syl ( Sylvia Miller, Chris' friend from Miami Florida)

Our prayers and condolences to the family. We met Mr. Orme at our daughter's marriage to his grandson Matthew. Allison's grandparents enjoyed the sharing of memories from the 40's and 50's.
Remember to grasp the moments you see his smile in your children's and grandchildren's faces.
Do not forget that our loved ones wait to welcome us to that land free from tears where joy becomes eternal and time is not counted by years.

My deepest sympathy to your family. In times such as these I find comfort from the Holy Scriptures. Psalms 55:22 says, "Throw your burden upon God himself, and he himself will sustain you. Never will he allow the righteous one to totter." I hope you too can find comfort from the Bible.
