Ralph S. Wax

90, husband of the late Martha (Visnick) Wax, died on Monday, August 25, 2008 at VA Medical Center, West Haven after a brief illness. Born in Cambridge, MA and raised in Dorchester, MA, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Lillian Wax. Mr. Wax had been a resident of Meriden since January 2003. He was President of R & C Automotive Service of Roslindale, MA, retiring in 1982. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Wax was a 60 year Mason of Prospect Lodge in Westwood, MA, a member of the American Legion of Roslindale, past commander of the Jewish War Veterans Post #0630 of Brockton, MA, a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans of Dedham, MA, a member of the chorus at Boston Senior Citizens, Vintage Voices of Wallingford, CT. He was a volunteer at the VA Hospital of West Roxbury Hospital for many years. He is survived by a daughter, Risa and her husband, Fred Zierler of Meriden; a son, Lester and his wife, Barbara Wax of Sharon MA; five grandchildren, Matthew Zierler, Shana Zierler and her fiancee, Alyn Adams; Seth Wax and his wife, Elisabeth; and Alan Wax; a sister, Anna Moses of Lithia Springs, GA; also survived by several nieces and nephews. A graveside service wil be held, Wednesday, August 27 at 11:45 a.m. at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon, MA with Rabbi Barry Starr officiating. A period of mourning will be held at the home of Risa and Fred Zierler on Wednesday and Thursday with services at 7 p.m. each evening. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden.
