Kimball Keeping Obituary

86, of Carleton-Willard, Bedford (formerly of Lexington), on August 25, 2008, after a brief illness. Beloved husband of the late Frances Maxwell Keeping. Devoted father of Janet Keeping (husband, Phil Elder), Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Brian Keeping (wife, Margaret Dyer Keeping) Lexington, and Peter Keeping (wife, Irene Heemon), Marlborough. Caring brother of Olive Stewart, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada and Dorothy Smarac, Loretto, Ontario, Canada. Loving grandfather of six: Emily, James, and Beth Elder, Sarah and Molly Keeping, and Nikki Keeping. Kimball served in the Canadian Army in WW II, earned the first Ph.D in electrical engineering awarded by McGill University and worked in the Canadian aerospace industry, until he joined the research staff at MIT's Lincoln Lab. He was generous, appreciative and devoted to family. His wide ranging interests included travel, the outdoors, Boy Scout leadership, crosswords, calculus, rooting for the Red Sox, volunteering for FISH, and after moving to Carleton-Willard, billiards. He was an active member of Hancock United Church of Christ. Friends are kindly invited to the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd., LEXINGTON for visiting hours on Friday, August 29th from 5-8 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 30th, Hancock UCC, 1912 Mass. Ave., Lexington, MA. Donations in his memory may be made to the Hancock United Church of Christ or McGill University. Private interment will be at Westview Cemetery, Lexington, MA.
