Frank P. Briggs

Of Brooksby Village, Peabody, formerly of Topsfield, age 85. Beloved husband of Ruth Pearl (Simonds) Briggs, died August 27, 2008 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House. Born & raised in Orange, Ma, he was the son of the late Carl C. and Arline (Pearson) Briggs, he received his education in the Orange Central (Grammar) School & graduated from Orange High School. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army Air Force, Air Transport Command at Fort St. John, B.C. Canada on the Alaska Highway. Mr. Briggs was employed by the General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY, New York City, Cincinnati, Ohio & Lynn, MA for over 35 years. A resident of the town of Topsfield for 39 years, he was a member of the Orange Masonic Lodge A.F.& A.M. & was a member of the American Legion. His hobbies included collecting coins, match covers & genealogy. He enjoyed writing poetry & his biography. He was also a member of Toastmasters. In addition to his loving wife with whom he shared 60 years of marriage, Frank is survived by three daughters & two sons-in-law, Carol & Russell Stanley of Templeton, MA, Linda Briggs of Beverly, MA & Kathleen & Thomas Guerry IV of Brookline, MA, two grandchildren & two great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Marjorie Peterson. His Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 2nd in the Chapel at Brooksby Village, Peabody, MA at 11 AM. A Graveside Committal Service will be held Saturday, September 6th at Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol, MA at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to both Services.
