When I was very little (4 or 5), Uncle Jim and Aunt Carol had me to stay for about a week. No doubt it was the first time I had been away from my home and family for so long, but I don't recall feeling homesick or afraid. I do remember their warmth and their kind attention, and their fascinating pug dog. I felt that same warmth and kindness from Uncle Jim when I spent some time in the Boston area some thirty years later. He went out of his way to make it easier for me while I was searching for an apartment: picking me up at the airport, loaning me his car, and putting me up in his spare room. It was a pleasure to spend time with him. He seemed to me a man at peace in his world, in his home, in his neighborhood. My thoughts and gratitude to those friends who knew him and cared for him. I am posting some photos I found of Jim and his brothers. I hope others will enjoy looking at them and remembering a lovely man, my Uncle Jim.

It was a pleasure having known Mr. Flynn for the past 17 years as his next door neighbor. My Flynn was a kind, gentle, caring man who cherished life and enjoyed having all the neighborhood kids around him. He enjoyed taking pictures of all of us, then he would try to either draw us or paint us. Always humble and was his worst critic of his art. We enjoyed spending Thanksgiving with him and he never missed one of my kids b-day parties where he came with his camera to make sure he once again took more pictures. My kids loved playing in his yard and they even named one of his trees "Monkey Mania" where they spent hours climbing, jumpling, screaming and having fun. Mr. Flynn enjoyed the fact that kids were always roaming around his property. My kids also enjoyed visiting him, as they did since they were babies. Mr. Flynn will be terribly missed by all of us on Evans and Drury Lane. Even this past Sunday, right before he was transferred to hospice he took the time to talk to my 7yo about what a serial number on plane meant. My son had just built a lego plane and wanted to know what the numbers and letter meant on the side of the plane. He gave Nikko an explanation of what it meant. Nikko was very happy. We all fill blessed by having had Mr. Flynn in our lives for the past 17 y since we moved into Evans Road. May he rest in peace. We will miss him. Rita, Pena, Franchesca, Nikko

Great Uncle not only indicates his place on a family tree to me, but who & what type of person he was. He wasn't a judgemental person. He had a personality that people just enjoyed being around. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had a chance to meet him.

There is so much more to be said of Uncle Jim than can be contained in a few sentences in this memory book. Like so many men of his generation he served his country in uniform. Jim attained the rank of Master Sergeant in the U.S.A.A.F. He served in P Group in a Bomb Wing of the 8th Air Force and was stationed in England until the Normandy invasion. His Group advanced to France as airfields large enough for B-17's were secured for use. In the post-war years Jim used his artistic eye in publishing and other areas. In his retirement he became an accomplished artist; he was esepcially fond of sketching the people in his life. He will be missed.
