Joan Evans Obituary

EVANS, Joan Estelle Carroll of Milton passed away on Monday, September 1st, 2008. Born in Salem, she was the widow of Dwight Durkee Evans of Milton, who died in 1968. She was a graduate of Harvard-Radcliffe and of Bryn Mawr. Her life, in addition to her family, was one of volunteer work, which included The Junior Leagues of Boston and New York City. She served on the Board of The China Trade Museum in Milton and for many years on the Board of Berkeley Divinity School at Yale as well as on the Board of the Milton Historical Society. She was a member of The Country Club of Brookline. She is survived by her children: Alexandra Guild of Hingham, MA David Evans of Greenwich, CT, Mark Evans of Canton, MA, Jennifer Lussier of Salem, MA, Susan Bohan of Manhattan Beach, CA 11 grandchildren, 3 nieces, a nephew, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Richard Carroll She was pre-deceased by her brothers, William and Richard Carroll. A private burial will be held in Milton Cemetery. Friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service planned for Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 10:30 AM at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Milton.
