Fran I just want you to know that I am thinking of Yolie this week and that my thoughts and prayers are with you and Bob. You know that I have the fondest memories of holidays and family get togethers with the three of you. My family is very much looking forward to a visit in January! Love always.

Dear Aunty Yolie, do you remember returning from visiting Fran and Bob in their home in VA and the fan belt broke and we had to walk to a service station and got help and they towed us and fixed the fan belt and then we were on our way again. I cannot put down on paper all the good times we had everywhere and at your home, etc. I only know that I love you very much and I will miss you forever. Love and Hugs, Bobbie

Just remembering 21 years ago when you were at my side the day before my daughter Cassie was born. You and I had a great visit and it is hard to believe that 21 years have passed. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers and I miss you. Love

Mother, if it is as they say, and you can see and hear from heaven, I hope you enjoyed the beautiful mass that Father Eric said for you on January 20 to celebrate your birthday. It was a beautiful service and parishoners who didn't know us came to pay their respects to me. I asked Father Eric if I could put the final pictures Michele took at the viewing and then made a collage up on a special poster board and all the people went down to the altar to view it. I miss you more than you will ever know my dear Mother, my best friend. You are in my every waking thought. I love you.

Fran,
I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. It has been over 30 years since we've had any contact, but I wanted you to know that I think of you and hope you are well. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Mother, I thought this might be something to remember in years to come. You were well loved by many, which was proven at the viewing. People you worked with you more than 30 years ago came to say their farewells to you, remembering all the good times at MILICO parties as well as at our home. The Funeral Director even said that it was a remarkable turnout at the viewing for the short notice people received in the papers. Everyone commented on the delicious food they always had when they came to Yolie's. You were a very special lady.

Yolie: you were a very special person, I will always remember our outings for lunch and us always fighting who was going to pick up the tab. Then we would all go shopping, and at night we would always go to your place to watch tv and I would eat all of your chocolate, and then we start the next morning, you will be truly missed.

Walt and I will remember being in Fran and Bob's Federal Way Kitchen. Yolie was preparing a dinner and Fran helping Yollie cook.Talking in their Boston accents.. Fran got out some packaged noodles - I though Yolie would throw a fit...Yolie grabbed the flour, etc. and a pan -started boiling water-rolling out the dough and slicing the dough into noodles. All the while saying- "NO PACKAGED NOODLES IN MY DINNER"..It was a most delicious meal and now on occasion I make my own noodles and think of Yolie every time..

Ma,
I remember the first Thanksgiving I had when I moved to Ocala, Fl. Fran had invited me to eat with her family. It was the first time I met you and I immediately fell in love with you. You were my Ma and Fran and Bob my siblings. You always sent me "daughter" cards for all occasions and I will always keep them to remember you by. It was with great love that I crocheted the afghan to keep you warm. I enjoyed all the special moments we shared-the trip to Biloxi, Cedar Key craft show, and many eatouts. I love you.

Fran - You remember the famous Martens family Christmas Eve celebrations, I'm sure. Well, one time we celebrated at Yollie's house in Dedham. Along with being a wonderful hostess, I remember being very impressed by her amazing collection of Hummels. She kept them in a glass case, and I'd never seen so many all at once, before. She was very proud of that collection, and rightfully so.
I know you will miss her, but in your heart she will never be forgotten.

Yollie, I will never forget one afternoon, many years ago. Since I could not drive, you generously volunteered to be the chauffeur, and we spent the afternoon going from store to store around Braintree, searching for a green blanket to match my bed linens. We had a lot of fun, and in the end, we found the green blanket! Thank you for your friendship over these many years. I will miss you.

You were my second mother and I called you "Ma". You were part of my life and my family's life for over twenty years. I thank God that we moved next to Fran and Bob in 1987. You became our family and we will miss you. You were truly a remarkable woman. My boys will always remember their Grandma Yoli.

Mother, you were my Mother, my best friend and you will always be in my thoughts and actions. You were a single parent when it was not the fashionable thing to be. You gave me a wonderful life and you aspired from a factory worker to an office manager after returning to school to acquire your business skills. You were and are loved by many and you will truly be missed.

Yolie I will miss your smiling face and your wonderful cooking. I will always remember the many Christmas Eves you and Fran spent with my family and the beautiful Christmas tree and decorations you always had. You were with me the day I went into labor with my oldest daughter Cassie and you will always be special to my family and I. We will miss you dearly. Love Michele

We loved Yolie. She was a grandmother to us. She knitted us outfits for every occasion. She'd be working in the yard and would always have to stop and throw our ball back over the fence and then would end up playing with us instead of finishing her gardening. We will miss her.
