Dear Brand Family ~ I was JUST recently informed about David's passing. My heart goes out to each and EVERY one of you
I saw Chris at an unfortunate event a few months ago and had a chance to catch up on things. Chris is absolutely one of my DEAREST friends, I would do anything for him. Seeing him so sad, made my thoughts fly back to your old Wellesley home, seeing David coming throught the door, his piercing blue eyes, his shy grin.... what an absolute tragedy that family's must endure. I, too, lost my brother Peter (friends with Julie), about 1 & 1/2 years ago. I understand your pain.
I will leave you knowing that you will all be in my thoughts and prayers. What more of a gift could there be than KNOWING David watches over you all. You are blessed ❤
Big hug and lots of love,
~ Meghan (Fitzmaurice) Dolan

After all of the craziness we survived living in Guatemala, during the civil war, how ironic it is that Dave died here. Dave was always the cool cucumber and brought stability in unstable times. His sense of humor made life more bearable. The world just isn't going to be the same without him.My heartfelt condolences to his family.

Sincerely,

Dear Brand Family,
All these years since we left Boulder and still certain people, times and places never fade. David was one of those very special souls with the rare ability to make an indelible mark on those whose life he touched. His voice, his laugh, his knowledge, friendship, humor and strength of character and heart will not be forgotten. I am grateful and count myself fortunate to have been able to have had David as a friend. My thoughts and prayers remain with your family. Deepest sorrows,

Devoted uncle and Father-to-be.

To Julie, Camille, Chris, Mikey and the whole Brand Family:

Please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of your amazing husband, father and son, David.

I met David my first week of college, and lived with he and Chris my senior year. As he travelled the globe sharing his gifts after college we lost touch a bit, but it is with huge gratitude that I got to reconnect with him in the Vineyard this summer. And to meet his remarkable wife and daughter.

Brando was larger than life to me. A true inspiration. Such a magnetic person, yet always radiating his warmth out to those around him. He will be so missed.

My family will always be here for you. I look forward to knowing Camille throughout her life, and sharing with her what an amazing man her Dad was.

Much love,

Max Harrris and family (Sherry, Hagen and Celie)

I am so sorry to hear about Dave. I went to Wellesley High and CU with Dave and although we weren't very close I always admired how nice a guy he was and how he was loved by so many. My thoughts are with Julie, Camile, Chris, Mike and the rest of the Brand family.

We are so heartbroken David has been taken from our family. He was such a wonderful, genuine person and we feel exceptionally lucky to have been part of his life. I loved his strong but serene disposition and the sweet melodic way he said “Julie”. He and Julie were the perfect pair… He was so very loving to my sister Julie and he was so proud of his beautiful baby girl Camille. He had a wealth of knowledge on a vast number of topics and I always walked away from our conversations feeling revived. The world is a better place because of David. You will always be with us David... We just have to listen.

Julie, Camille, MaryBeth, John and all the Brand Family,

May the joys of memories past fill your hearts and salve the pain of loss. Our lives are better today because of the wonder of David's life. Even as a little boy, he showed all who knew him sensitivity and kindness. His smile, his charm, his zest for life are his gifts to all who knew and loved him. We are better because we knew and loved him.

Who could ever forget David. He was like a movie star. Even back in Junior high, he had such a strong presense and people just wanted to be around him. I have this great picture of him with Scott Comstock, Andrew Mullahy and Colin Herlihy standing in the hallway at the middle school and David has the biggest, brightest smile. I know he was a wonderful friend. I feel lucky to have known him and I will always remember his smile, wit and charm. I can't imagine the loss you, his family, must feel and I am truly sorryfor his passing. We who knew him are all in shock and pray for your comfort through his wonderful life and the memories that you shared. My thoughts are with you.

I am so heartbroken that such a good and talented man has died. David taught with me at Martha's Vineyard Regional High School last year. He was always joyful, optimistic, and full of life for his students and our school. How much Martha's Vineyard will miss David! He chose to live on our beautiful Island because of its way of life. I will always remember his goodness and compassion for others. My love to all who loved him.

A few years back, I was waiting for the inbound train in Wellesley Hills. I didn't know at first that David was sharing the same park bench until a beeping horn caught our attention and we both looked up from our reading. It had been many years since we'd seen one another but we sat together for the train ride and talked and laughed and caught up on our busy lives. This is my last and most fond memory of David, I am so sorry for his untimely passing and our thoughts and prayers are with the Brand family.

I was so sad to hear this news today. I have so many great David Brand memories...from Junior High school to, most recently, the reunion where Dave spoke so happily of his life with his wife and daughter. It always amazes people when I tell them my closest friends today are the same group of guys I was with in elementary school. And, David and I go as far back as nursery school. Throughout the years we have all moved around to different places, sometimes losing contact for months. But, the next time we are all together, it seems as though no time has passed. That is what true friendship is all about and I am lucky to have had someone like David in my life. Things will never quite be the same without him but his memory will most certainly live on in stories and pictures. If anyone has ever seen his famous dancing jig then you should have a smile on your face. My thoughts and prayers are with you Julie, Camille and the entire Brand family. I only hope that time can turn this pain into wonderful memories.

I worked with David everyday at MVRHS as his teacher's assistant in his Earth Science classes. His genuine and caring nature, always showed his passion for all the wealth of knowledge that he shared on a daily basis with his students. I learned SO much from him, especially about the weather, stars and environment- and will always think of him when I am looking into the skies day & night. He will be missed by many students and especially by his fellow faculty. You are in our thoughts and prayers Julie & Camille.
