Carrie -
I am so sorry for your loss.
It has been many years since those summers we spent in Plaistow and we all share so many fond memories of the time spent with you and John....you were always so kind and so patient with us. How John never tired of entertaining and playing with the seven of us is beyond me! He clearly touched many lives; I count myself lucky having been one of them. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you, Mia and John’s entire family.
Fondly,

Colleen Soucie

Twenty one years ago today, John was in my wedding party. I can only imagin his thoughts "What am I doing in New Jersey?" I loved John. He was a wonderful person. Holidays at the Hayden House was nothing but terrific. But even a barbeque in West Newbury was a great time with Carrie & John. I was lucky enough to meet Mia as a baby and have loved seeing her pictures as she grew into a beutiful young lady who was adored by her father. I am so sorry for your loss. Carrie & Mia, know I will always keep you in my prayers. Love, Kyle

Carrie & Mia,
I found out today of John's passing, and send my condolances to you & your family. I worked with John for many years at MHD, lastly in Arlington. John was a great person with a strong work ethic and a responsible husband & father. Like many others have said, he was proud of his daughter Mia. While I was working in Arlington with John, my wife would take my daughter to visit ocassionally. Visiting John was one of the highlights of my daughter's visit. Me and my family met both of you at York Beech a few summers ago - Mia & my daughter played for awhile at the park. I was glad we met up with John, and to meet his beautiful family. Please know that John will always be remembered by my family.

John was a well liked and respected employee at MassHighway, one that could always be counted on to get the job done no matter how difficult the task. He was a man of integrity and hard work, but also a very pleasant individual blessed with humor. In the late seventies when John and I were training to become MassHighway dive inpectors, we were dropped off with the group off the beach in the ocean to perform a dead reckoning course for the beach with a compass. John and I buddied up and headed for the beach along our magnetic course we had reckoned. Upon reaching the surf and exiting, we looked back to see the rest of the group scattered about near where we left them. Asking John whether or not we should head back out, he said, no we made our goal and we just waved and yelled to them. Off course, upon reaching shore, Joe, our instructor, proceeded to read us the riot act, but then as an aside, said well done. John was a good friend and I especially injoyed the joking, his work ethic, along with his friendship. I for one will miss him.

My friendship with John goes back to over 15 years at MassHighway when he ?took me under his wing?. I worked closely and shared office space with John. John?s work ethic was well known but he had a great ability to insert humor along with the work. My fondest memories are of the many, many laughs that we shared over the years.

My daughter, now graduated from College, still remembers when as a second grader when we paid a visit to the farm to meet ?Cookie? the cow. John knew of my daughter?s interest and insisted on the visit.

I owe a lot to John and will miss him.

My deepest sympathies.

I am truly saddened to learn of John's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his wilfe, daughter, family & friends.

I worked with John for many years being first acquainted as a member of the dive team. He pulled me out of the rushing waters of the Merrimack on one occassion. He was a man's man, spoke with authority, spoke his mind, and was greatly respected by his peers.

Although we never met each other's family I would always ask about Carrie & Mia and he would ask about my wife and children...always remembering their names.

I am sorry he is gone but I am greatful for having had the opportunity to known him.
