To the Joseph Family:
I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my friend and colleague Herb. Herb touched many lives, mine among them. He was a man of compassion, integrity, great patience and humor. I know he will leave a great space in your lives, but know also that he will always be with you. He was so very proud of his wife and daughters, and always spoke glowingly of your successes and triumphs. My life is better for having known him. Thank you for sharing him with me.

Dear Joseph Family,

Just a note to let all of you know how saddened we were here in Chicago whne we heard about the loss of our cousin Herbert. We most certainly will miss him. I always enjoyed our conversations and especailly liked sharing memories about attending Bradley. Although we have not had the opportunity to spend time together in a while, all of you are never far from our thoughts. I will never forget the very special reunion that the Joseph family planned for our Boston family reunion and it was the first memory that came to my mind when I received the news about Herb. I have shared the video tape with my children many times. His love for his family, both immediate and extended, was always apparent. He will definitely be missed. We love all of you. Take care and please keep in touch.

My deepest condolences to the Joseph Family and to the Boston area community of health professionals who were his colleagues. Herb was my intern at Boston City Hospital and then my co-worker and eventually my successor as Director of Psychology and the Center for Multicultural Training in Psychology and years later as a member of the Massachusetts Psychology Board. I have always been very proud to be affiliated with him and have valued his friendship and his gentle caring over these thirty years. His passing is a great loss for us all, but he will continue to live in the things we have taken away from our interactions with him.

Dear Joseph family:

Herb was a true mentor and friend. I have not seen you in so many years.. I met the "girls" in 1992 at CMTP graduation at Norman Lefevre's summer home! Herb was the Director during my Internship year and then hired me at CMTP. He has always been a true example and role model
It is with great sadness that I write these words but with a sense of peace about his wonderful life. I wish I could be there.

Dr. Joseph was a wonderful teacher, role model, and mentor. I respected him immensely, and I always endeavored to live up to his level of integrity and professionalism. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

My deepest sympathy to the Joseph Family.

I will always remember Dr. Joseph for his kind words of encouragement and support to me as my project officer for the minority fellowships. He was always ready to respond to my many questions while assuring me that I was on the right track. His gently spirit and commitment to the MFP made it easy to call upon him at any time. I appreciated his guidance and will miss him.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
