Evelyn Ann Wolfson

WOLFSON, Evelyn Ann (Silberberg) 80, loving wife, mother and grandmother, of Newton and Boynton Beach, Florida, died from heart failure on September 17 after a valiant fight. She leaves heartbroken her devoted husband of 57 years, Joseph A. Wolfson, her 2 children and their spouses, Louis and Cindy Wolfson and Linda and Jim Kearns and 4 grandchildren, Michael, Samantha, Emily and Jake and many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by her mother, Sarah (Grossman) Silberberg, who lived to 104 years old and her father Samuel Silberberg, who died when she was just 2 weeks old. Also her 4 siblings, Bea, Jack, Sidney and Buck and her mother-in-law Rose Wolfson to whom she was a loving daughter. Evelyn grew up in Brookline and went to Brookline High School where she met her future husband. A graduate of Boston University Sargent School, Evelyn was a practicing physical therapist for many years, but her passion and knack for the stockmarket turned into a second career where she was one of the first female stockbrokers in New England when she joined Josephthal & Co. in 1966. Evelyn loved being a broker and continued practicing until her illness this year. Evelyn was active for many years at Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley where she was the president of the sisterhood. Along with her husband Joe and his love of sailing, Evelyn spent many years active at Community Boating on the Charles River. Evelyn was also a lifelong member of Hadassah and the Hebrew Rehab Center. She was a great coach and athlete in her youth and Evelyn enjoyed all sports. She got great pleasure from her many friends and family. A very bright, good humored and loving person, who brought joy to everyone who knew her, Evelyn will be deeply missed. Graveside services at the Pride of Jacob Cemetery, Jeshurun Road (off 300 Grove Street) in West Roxbury on Friday, September 19 at 1:00 p.m. Shiva at the home of Lou and Cindy Wolfson.
