Dorothy Renaghan Obituary

RENAGHAN, Dorothy Frances (née Hughes) 95, of Malden, died peacefully on September 19, 2008. Devoted wife for 43 years of the late Leo Joseph Renaghan, who died in 1981. She was the daughter of Dr. George Frederick Hughes and Alice Caroline (Harrington) Hughes and the sister of Florence Hughes, Alice Blanchard, and Barbara Lawrence, all of whom predeceased her. She is survived by her children, Denis of Florida, Leo Mark of Montreal, Joseph of New York, Mary of Malden, (with whom she lived), Philip of Malden and Dorothy of West Roxbury. She was predeceased by two of her eight children, Kevin and Martha. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Paige of Westwood, Padraic of Chevy Chase, Janeen of Garden City, Leo Aidan of Baltimore, and Colin Hughes Santangelo of West Roxbury. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren: Callum and Luke Stellato of Garden City, Hayden and Quinn Renaghan of Chevy Chase, and Averill Kenna McCorkle of Westwood. Dorothy was a member of the Class of 1934 of Emmanuel College in Boston. An accomplished pianist, enthusiastic cook, and avid reader, she will be deeply missed by her family. "A mother is the one who can take the place of all others and whose place no one else can take." There will be a wake at Carroll Funeral Home, 721 Salem Street, Malden, MA on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem Street, Malden, MA on Wednesday at 9 a.m. A remembrance in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
