My condolensces to the whole Herlihy Family. Charlie's sister Kathy is like a sister to me and our friendship has thrived for over 20 years. Charlie had always been kind and welcoming to me at every gathering I attended. I remember one which I had brought a (very Basic) salad, and how Charlie raved about it the whole time. He had the gift of making a simple gesture seem so very much appreciated, and had a way to make everyone feel special and good about themselves.

We were so sad to hear about Charlie, and our hearts go out to his family and friends. We did not know him well, but always looked forward to his quiet, gentle humor during our daily Starbucks visit. His kindness to our children was always appreciated. He would often share stories about his many nieces and nephews. He was definitely someone who was a bright spot in our Lexington world. We miss him.

I was so shocked to hear the devastating news about Charlie when I returned from a trip overseas yesterday. A few years ago Charlie would ride regularly with Quad Cycles in Arlington and as we lived close to each other in Lexington we would often make the last part of the ride home together. We traded cycling stories and especially broken collarbone stories. I came to know Charlie as a genuinely warm and good human being who was devoted to his family. My deepest condolences to all of Charlie's family.

I'm going to miss you Charlie. My frequent visits to Starbucks will not be the same without our chats about the bikeway, the old Lexington neighborhoods, the great meadow or how you have always wanted to give Bretton Woods a try. I will always remember you as a good friend.

I was so saddened to hear about Chalrlie - I was so fond of him. Like many, while I didn't know him all that well, I had the pleasure of knowing him casually for over nine years, and he had come to mean a great deal to me and to my son, who is autistic. I've found that life is mostly made up of the little things, and Charlie is such a happy memory of those times. He was funny, had a wealth of knowledge, and had a true charm to him. He was lovely to my son, always patiently waiting for his often much delayed answers to questions. When we left the area recently, we made up an album of family, close friends and those few who just made our lives nicer on a regular basis - Charlie's picture is first in that latter category. Godspeed. Our thanks to Charlie for the many years of kindnesses and our deepest sympathies to his family and close friends.

My heart was crushed when I heard the awful news about Charlie. I was glad that I had a chance to spend time with him on Labor Day. We had a good time that day and we all enjoyed talking politics. It was always a pleasure to see him - he was always smiling. My prayers are with the entire Herlihy family. With deep sadness, Colette Stukas (Michelle Herlihy's sister)

I am so sorry for the sudden and shocking death of Charlie. He was always a bright spot in his quiet and consistant way. It is hard to believe that I will never see him again and share conversations and coffee at Starbucks or out front on the bench. He always talked about his family especially his Dad..... rest in peace Charlie. Love Moe

We would like to let all of the Herlihy family know how saddened we were to hear about Charlie. Russell and I are grateful that we were able to spend time with him on Labor Day, and to share in his enthusiasm for the tomatoes and basil that he brought from his garden. He was a good guy and he will be sorely missed. You are in our thoughts and prayers at this very sad time.
Love, Jeanne Marie

Charles, I knew you only a short time, but enjoyed our brief acquaintance... I can see by the sorrow in your friends and customers at Starbucks just how much you are loved and missed...
Also, I heard someone mention your deep affection for you father and pray you are together again in God's love and peace.........Sandy....
